I have family there and use to go out there back in 96 so I can tell you how much that shit has changed just in those ten years .. I even went and drove around bankhead apartments and the entire thing was getting ready to be demolished had like 4 operating units left and that was in 08 ..bowen homes too same shit .. dont get me wrong mechanicsville, pittsburgh community there's a few more spots i cant think of right now that still got people selling dope and shit going on but for the most part things are changing

Lifelong South Bronx NYC resident here, and NONE (I mean none) of these places can hold a candle to what the old Bronx of the 70's & 80's used to be. As far as what true urban blight really is on a devastating scale. Abandoned or burnt out 6 story tenements, burnt stripped cars, and rubble filled vacant lots as far as the eyes can see. The smell of smoke in the air from a nearby building set ablaze by its very own landlord looking to escape. Fort Apache, Hunts Point, Port Morris, South Bx, are all totally different now and all for the better ...
