WHAT A MOVIE, WHAT A MUSICAL SCORE. ''SPARTACUS'' WOULD HAVE NEVER BEEN WHAT IT WAS WITHOUT THE TALENT OF DOCTOR NORTH. HE IS GONE-FOR A WHILE-BUT HIS MUSIC REMAINS WITH US!!!

I don’t think I’ve heard a more romantic love theme then Spartacus, it brings me back too all the romances in my life! An explosion of romances I lived and have forgotten, a life without music is a life not lived! Play on Alex North loved Cleopatra! A Street Car Named Desire, what a very wonderful composer, to curl ,my blood into such extant and passion. Elmer Bernstein too another marvelous composer for great music.❤ loved the music he composed for the movie the Miracle.

The love theme is incredibly beautiful. It soars with such minor keys, and captures not only the love between Spartacus and Varinia, but the love of freedom, and the tragedy both those loves bring.

Thank you so much Obdúlio Rincón. Diego Navarro is not only a conductor, but a great composer actually. We encourage you to know more about the music he has written for film. The Tango version of the love theme is an arrangement by Diego Navarro he dedicated to his Mom and sister, called both of them "Arecia". So happy you enjoyed the video!

@ Angel Herrero and Dimitris Nikolousis.. I think Dr's North and Rosza ,with Spartacus and BenHur...surely gave the best of the best. And Douglas' autobiography recalls how he painstakingly assembled his cast ...Simmons ,Olivier, Laughton, Curtis, and Ustinov for what Olivier deemed as " so noble an enterprise ".Inspiration itself!

Do the brain dead moons at KZitem think that by interrupting my selected music with adverts will persuade me to pay them money, quite the opposite AND do the companies whose adverts interrupt what I have selected to watch will persuade me to buy their products? NO! Today, this was interrupted by an advert for PC World. I was going to go there to buy some things. Now I will go to Argos instead.

I'd rather be here - a free man among his brothers and sisters, facing a long march and a hard fight, rather than the richest Equestrian in Rome - fat with food he didn't work for and surrounded by slaves. Maybe there's no peace in this world, I don't know, but I do know that we're brothers and sisters and we're free. - Kirk Douglas, Spartacus (1960).

It is, if anything, only ever-so-slightly slower than the original soundtrack version. (I'm speaking here of the Main Title Theme; I concur that the Love Theme is a bit too slow & lilting, nice but not quite as good as the original soundtrack...) But, yes, otherwise this is a splendid rendering. Bravo!

In the early 1970's there were actually 25,000 slaves in America - the conscientious objectors to the War in Vietnam who were ordered to perform civilian alternative service, 40 hours a week for up to two years, in lieu of military induction...and who did not get paid by their employers.
