A film about the DFDS ferry King Seaways in service on the route Amsterdam - Newcastle in October 2019.
In this film we are on a mini cruise with the King Seaways from the Netherlands to England, during our crossing we visit also the bridge and engine rooms of the King Seaways.
The King Seaways was build in 1987 as Nils Holgersson on the Schichau Seebeckwerft Bremerhaven in Germany for the TT-Line route Trelleborg - Travemünde between Sweden and Germany.
The Nils Holgersson began regular service between Trelleborg and Travemünde under the Swedish flag on 26 February 1987.
In 1993, the ship was sold to the shipping company Brittany Ferries, rebuilt and renamed Val de Loire. The ship was used on the Plymouth - Santander route.
In 2005, the Val de Loire was operated on the St Malo - Portsmouth and Cherbourg - Portsmouth routes.
The shipping company DFDS bought the Val de Loire in 2005 and deployed it on the Ijmuiden - Newcastle route from 11 March 2006 under the name King of Scandinavia.
In 2011, the ship was renamed King Seaways and continues to operate on the Ijmuiden - Newcastle route to this day.
