TerraNova is a 50 megawatt ground-based solar power plant located in North Sea Port (the Dutch-Belgian port of Vlissingen, Terneuzen and Ghent). It is the second largest solar plant in operation in Belgium. The energy generated by this plant will be used to produce green hydrogen.
North Sea Port has a vast network of parties who play a role in this hydrogen project. Thanks to the close connection with the port we are in contact with other companies who are working on hydrogen projects as well and that could be interesting in partnering up with.
North Sea Port hydrogen facts & figures:
- 600,000 tonnes of hydrogen annually produced and consumed
- Solid ecosystem of producers, users and manufacturers of hydrogen-based technology
- Largest hydrogen network in Western-Europe
- Will be integrated in Dutch and Belgian national grids in 2026
- Dedicated infrastructure for large-scale production, consumption, import and transfer
- A wide range of hydrogen applications (feedstock, fuel and circular products)
