Now on our 36th day of cycling, our ride continues from the German city of Passau on the Danube to Salzburg, Austria. We have now left the Danube behind to follow the River Inn and then the Salzach River to arrive at the birthplace of Mozart and the setting for many scenes from the Sound of Music.
The ride follows the Tauern Radweg (also part of the Inn Radweg) which is part of the EuroVelo 7 route. It's not that easy to find detailed route information on this path, but Alltrails does list the route
www.alltrails.com/trail/austr...
The official EuroVelo website is another handy resource of course, and for those using GPS navigation, it provides gpx files for the various routes. en.eurovelo.com/#routes-and-c...
and en.eurovelo.com/ev7/austria
For navigation, we did not use any high-tech GPS systems, relying instead on route signage, and sometimes the Maps.Me phone app.
We did not have local phone sim cards so our use of Google maps and other online resources was limited to when we had wifi access at campgrounds, grocery shops and restaurants.
