@@REDCLAYHOMESTEAD I'm on a waiting list for an Inuit. The cost for pretty much all breeders is a little over $4k.

@@nebyousolomon883 it wouldn't be my first choice. They're large dogs, which may eliminate them from many landlord's pet policies. I suggest to talk to a breeder. The Northern Inuit Society has a list.

So if you do a Embark test will it show Northern Inuit or Tamaskan or will it show all the mixed breeds
@tamingthetamaskan3338

Because Tam and NI are both "new" breeds and mixes at that it will show the different breeds and wolf content in the case of the Tams.

I appreciate your accuracy on the traits of the Northern Inuit. Your commentary matches my own delight with this beautiful and rewarding breed. We researched both the Tamaskan and NI breeds and ended up getting 2 NI from a Colorado breeder. Separation Anxiety is the only concern so far, these past 2 years, but my wife or myself are always around the home so this minimizes the reactions we experience. Thumbs up for the video and thanks for the comparison! 👍

Since Tamaskans have some percentage of wolf in them, does that make them illegal in some states??? I hope some breeders breed them without any wolf, I'd really like one 😅
@tamingthetamaskan3338

It really depends on the state and city's laws and wording of the law. Tams do have wolf content but it is domesticated lines and they are a few generations removed. Understanding that they don't breed with pure wolves is important. The breeding line of real tamaskans all come from Wolfdogs and snow breeds they all have a very low content of wolf. There are current wolfdog out crossings from genetic reasons but the over all content of tams cannot be more than 30% wolf. Tams even that test for 0% still have wolfdog origins. Many states however see wolf dogs no different from dogs some research is important. If this is a big concern it's best to look at northern Inuits as they have no wolfdof origins.

They’re only like 15% wolf maybe 20 so they’re legal in most places if not all

Thanks for the video and all of the great information. I just rescued a dog and don't know her breed. She looks identical to the Tam so I think that's what she might be. She's the smartest & sweetest dog ever! Is there a way for me to find out if that's what she is, would her new Vet know? The Vet estimated her age to be around 2 years old and she's just under 50 lbs.

Congratulations on the rescue! While I think it'd be rare for a Tam to be out in the wild I'm sure it's possible. The best way to find out what your pup has is an Embard DNA test and health screen. You'll definitely want to find out if she has any wolf as that will change how you react and train her.

I hope that you're not claiming that your Tamaskan is a service dog when you bring her to Barnes and Noble. Assuming you're in the USA, service dogs are not allowed to have any wild canid content per the ADA.
@tamingthetamaskan3338

Barnes and Noble is dog friendly. I've always called businesses prior to bringing a dog in. I've found most places in Colorado are very dog friendly. Interestingly enough some Tamaskans have been legally registered as service dogs. being at best LC and far removed in most cases from vlack heritage the Ada has allowed Tams so long as they can prove themselves in a role as a service dog. Teyla here is an ESA and we made it through the training for therapy work with kids and senior homes but being a recent outcrossing she'd never pass being a full service animal. Nothing wrong with that though she's an amazing dog.
@maleficent5381

@@tamingthetamaskan3338 there is no service dog registration or certification in the USA. All certifications and registrations that people have are scams and aren't worth the paper they're printed on. In the USA, it's not possible for any animal to be legally registered, as there is no legally recognized registration. Also, per the ADA, any dog with any measurable wolf, coyote, or other wild canid, even low content, can not be a service dog, and thus the protections provided by the ADA would not apply.

@@Shottamanrambo why do you ask? I was pointing out that per the ADA, only domestic dogs and miniature horses can be service animals. Any dog that is part wolf is excluded. And, barnes and noble is not officially pet friendly.

@@maleficent5381 First off not every tamaskan has wolf content.......for example kzitem.info/news/bejne/pn2Oup54andmqHY Secondly.....Im not sure what your goal is....the dog seems pretty friendly.....and Colorado is definitely a dog friendly state....most places are fine with dogs. And your right about there being a lot of scams, but the main legitimate way is to get a letter from a mental health professional. Basically if the dog is fine and well trained I dont think any concern should be about it....even if its like 8% wolf lol. I would hope your not the type of person who would go up to him demanding for DNA samples or make scene in public on some Karen shit
