The operation of the Charing Cross and Bank branches are to be seperated. And 50 new trains are to be built. At Camden Town the number of trains are to increase from 24 to 30-36 per hour.

If someone wondered 'why the spanish flag?' that's just because Ferrovial, the construction company of this tunnel, is from Spain. They are doing the Second Avenue Subway in New York too.

Was that completely staged for the press? Given the fact it was a pre-built concrete wall they broke through rather than rock?

The concrete is the retaining wall that is put in place from the previous tunnel construction. The new machine has to break through it to join the tunnels.

They have to build a concrete cap for the tunnel boring machine to dig through so that it doesn't damage the walls of the vertical shaft.

London is built on clay not rock if there was no concrete liner the hole would be full of clay/mud. Sometimes they have to freeze it to stabilize it before tunneling through it.

Hopefully it has walls at the end of the platform with doors and when the tube train arrives those big doors open letting passengers enter inside and then no more people will jump on the tracks. Dubai international airport has this.

I find it amazing or amusing that they did not go to Clapham Junction, one of the biggest and busiest mainline London stations and no bloody tube!

for very sensible reasons: it wouldn't be able to cope. with people coming in from all over the south west / south / south east, instead of going to Waterloo / Victoria, people would get out and try and get on the tube. and there is no way it could manage, so they deliberately didn't do that. you said it yourself 'busiest mainline station'.
