Thanks for the warning. I do not think a leaking tank at the welds is a little problem. That is an unacceptable deal breaker. I've been lusting after a Norton since I saw a great video of a VR880 and now that I am in the market to get my first 961 or Dominator I am reading so many problems with the bikes I am rethinking whether I should get one at all. Thats too bad because these bikes look incredible. I really wish they were as reliable as they are beautiful.

nice, can Norton, or anyone else, introduce a few more ponies? I am tempted to get one of these but weary about the 78-bph from the push rod engine, and being stuck with just 5-gears of course.

Baffles seems to be a sensible way to go heard other's with out of the baffles but I think it's perfect the way you're bike is,, premium money should be fault free really,, but hey you look to be enjoying your ownership 😁😁😁👍👍👍

Stunning bike. Where did you buy the race exhaust from? I have a Commando and want to fit that exhaust.

The Bearded Yorkshireman Its from Norton. When you buy the bike it essentially comes with the standard pipe and the race pipe is a small additional cost. Basically it's meant to run the race pipe really, but they fit the pony standard one which looks proper crap because of regs. Give em. A call, however I would imagine that they might charge a pretty penny for it. You might be better off saying you are a dominator owner and want a replacement as the one you have was scratched in an accident. They might do you a better deal.

Wondering how well it would run against 2011 Harley Davidson XR1200X? With both riders as the same skill set, how would they compare?

Hello I was wondering where you got your baffles from and who fitted them for your dominator ss? Thank you 😊

Norton arranged them mate. They have a chap near the factory which produces them. Speak to them and they can arrange. I think they were 200 gbp or so.

The fuel leak is shocking. I nearly had my commando go up in flames with the same issue. Especially in the heat of dubai. Get it fixed!

Hi Buddy. I am in the fortunate position now to consider buying a Norton Dominator or Domiracer, I dont want to go down the obvious Ducati path. Difficult to find any advice with regards to the pros and cons of buying a Norton, especially given the recent events at Norton. Any advice you could offer would be appreciated. Cheers

If it were a choice between the Dominator or the Domiracer I would opt for the Dominator SS. Why? Because the Domiracer, although more limited, was a test bike for the rest. So essentially, if you are planning to ride the bike and put a few miles on it then the Dominator SS is the better bike, especially of you get one of the 50 UK bikes and not the rest of the 151 to 200 international run. Don't get me wrong, they are good bikes and look amazing. And, if looked after I certainly don't think you will lose money. I wouldn't also be bothered about Norton production, someone will always be around to buy Norton and pay to manufacture parts, just like now as they are back in production. And even worst case scenario they aren't and now your bike is worth double the money but u don't have the parts to ride and fix it. Man, at the end of the day it's a lovely bike and if you have the money and have made the decision you are going to take it anyway. Just to get the right one for right price and now is the time to grasp one.

@@autoaddict7481 Hi Buddy, Thank you for the prompt reply and sound advice. Rightly so, because I have loved the Norton as soon as it came out, but it's your fault as well because after seeing and hearing your bike! Well, I just think its pure mechanical porn! Thanks again, I am in no rust to get one, but as soon as I do, I will let you know. Take care and all the best. Regards. Mac

Did you bother with a re map once you fitted the megas / baffles?
@autoaddict7481
6 жыл бұрын
Dave Wright yes mate. I left it on the UK for the first 400 miles. Then my brother took it back to Norton, they did the map and then shipped it over. As Cafe Rider are now the official Norton dealer I am sure they could arrange the programme for the mapping if you fitted the pipes over here. Not sure where you are.

Hi, sorry for the late reply. Yes I live in the UK so no problem with the mapping, my bike is your bikes elder brother by one digit. Mine was peeing fuel out of the overflow pipe so took it back to get it sorted,. Turns out the alloy breather pipe in the tank had fractured, they welded it up and distorted the filler cap threads and gasket sealing surface 😠😠😠. Is there any chance you could measure the inner diameter and length of the perforated baffle tube?
