Another noteworthy sight is from the ship after it clears the coast, before it turns south. It's the sun reflecting off the glass from all the skyscrapers--especially around sunset. Vancouver bathed in golden glory.

I have such a fascination with the tug boats!!!! It just blows my mind seeing those little boats push those GINORMAS ships to dock or when they are in trouble. The tug boats was right beside this ship as if to say , I got you , keep it moving 💯. TOTALLY AWESOME!!!!! Even more awesome when the tug boats push the Navy ships to dock when they come home from deployment!

I was on her first departure out of Burrard Inlet in October 2018 on the way to Los Angeles. It was dark when we left of course but it was a spectacular sail away with floating under the bridge with it's lights. She is a beautiful elegant ship and when you are on board, although there are a lot of passengers, we didn't feel crowded at any point. I would cruise on the Bliss again at any opportunity. Thanks so much for posting this, it brings back many good memories!

Norergian Cruise Line used to send Norwegian Dream through the Kiel Canal. The Dream was the largest ship to pass the canal. To be able to do that the forward mast could be lowered and the funnel would flip open like the lid on a box. An interesting sight all by itself. There are several bridges the ship had to pass under even closer than Bliss in the video.

I wouldn't want to be on THAT in a storm or even in rough seas. I weathered storms aboard large USN ships and even though I've never suffered motion sickness, when you hear creaking noises from a large ship it gives you pause.

Under her own power, no less. Though I see a tug standing by just in case. Tidal range here (reference is Point Atkinson) is almost 5m (16 ft) and, to make matters even more interesting, there can be significant counterflowing currents to affect deep draft vessels. I abhor cruise ships, but a navigational accident here would be bad for everyone. So I expect the ENCORE always goes through at low slack.

Depends on the tide. When the USS Coral Sea came through in the 1960s, they had to take down the highest mast, and come through at exactly the correct tide state so that the ship would clear the bridge and still have water under the keel. (Or so my dad told me.)

I've been on this ship entering the harbor (sailing the other direction). I was told there's a 20 minute widow at low tide during which there is enough clearance for the ship to pass under the bridge. Actually, I was on the cruise just preceding this! This is the ship leaving the harbor after I disembarked earlier in the day. It was empty in this video, sailing to Seattle to start the Alaska season.
