Thanks for the awesome video, Brendan........I'm on the Epic in January and have an aft facing balcony on deck 10. This accessible cabin looks so much better. Can you book an accessible cabin in advance or do you have to get closer to sail date? Also, does the bathroom door close or is it a slider with a gap like the regular rooms on the Epic that everyone is complaining about? Thanks!!

Hi John. Enjoy the trip regardless of the cabin. :) We booked the cabin during our initial reservation. We were made aware that it is an accessible cabin and therefore we could get bumped if it was needed by someone who had a handicap. (That bump would have probably moved us to a suite as it is a B1 class.) The agent did tell us that getting bumped is VERY rare on the aft-facing balconies as their distance from the elevators does not make them a popular choice for those needing that type of room. As for the bathroom door, it is curved glass and is on a hinge. Being that the toilet is further away from the door, unlike the regular balcony room, there is a bit more privacy with the frosted glass. Hope that helps. Safe travels!

I think you did a good job with the room tour. I'll be going on the Epic this September & staying in large balcony cabin.

Thanks for the kind words. I recognize it's a bit long. When doing the research on the handicapped accessible rooms on the Epic, I really only found one and it was too short. I guess that's why I wanted to make sure that most every detail was covered. I'm glad you liked it. Enjoy your trip!!

Shame on you two able bodied people taking a cabin that was meant for a handicapped person. Someone who truly needed this room was not able go have it, because if yiur thoughtlessness.

Shame on you for actually making such a rude comment without knowing the facts. I don't need to justify this, but just for your edification and those who viewed this video: 1) When we inquired about this cabin, we were told that we would be able to reserve this cabin by NCL. 2) The agent did indeed tell us that if someone "who truly needed this room" did require it, we would be moved to another cabin as so to accommodate those individuals. 3) The agent also noted that because of its distance from the elevator, most cruisers with mobility issues would not prefer these cabins. So in the end, 1) we reserved a cabin which we knew full well that we would have happily given up if someone did actually need it. 2) we taped a KZitem video to provide anyone who was considering this cabin regardless of physical ability (the only other KZitem video I could find for this cabin type was old (around 2012) and was about 2 minutes long, and not providing a lot of detail). 3) received at least one appreciative comment from someone who has a mobility issue on the review. 4) did reply to another comment asking about booking an accessible cabin in advance. My reply to them said exactly what I mentioned above (but you failed to read the comments). Please see a sculptor to see if he or she can possibly remove that chip on your shoulder.

I guess I shouldn’t use the handicapped stall in a public bathroom either. What a nitwit.
