Noooo not the BOOKER prize. My faaaaaavorite prize ever on earth. I can’t imagine any books that could posssssibly be better than the Booker nominees. God forbid Fr tho, can’t wait for the backed up content you’ve got lined up :)

Look, this is how we format dialogue in Spanish: -Let's put the camp tent here -Selva said. I wonder now how much of that nonsense is just bad edition/translation.

My native language is Spanish and literally I was forced to switch halfway through the book to the English version to understand what I was reading. Argentine terminology reaches its peak, to the point that it seemed like a completely different dialect to me. Annie McDermott's task of translating the text into English was titanic. Added to this was the way of delimiting dialogues, the shifts between past, present, and future, the timeless episodes, the overlapping of stories, the non-delimitation of chapters. A challenge that at the end of the book would leave me wondering what the hell did I just read?

I'm with you on the Booker vs International Booker. Last year I read way more Bookers than Int. Bookers, and I wish I'd done it the other way around. Sad to not get your Booker rants though. 😂Hope you change your mind.

48 hours!!!! 🤣🤣 I didn't like this book, very disappointed. Thank god for the translators note at the end which helped me so much in understanding why the hell this exists.

I hate book prizes. They're boring and irrelevant. But I love The Disco King and stingrays!

A bit controversial maybe…but as pretty as they are I’ve read maybe one decent Charco press book (Elena Knows) and the rest have been average to poor after getting a bundle of them for Christmas.
