DO YOU HEAR THAT AUSTRALIA??? Haha, I would love it too... but so far, they've not allowed it. Maybe if enough Australians complain? ;)

No problem, Daniel! There are some more I didn’t answer (I actually filmed answers for every question, but some of them I’ll turn into a full episode... such as my top 10 trips).

Looking back at your experience, do you think you would appreciate your worldly travels more if you had spread out all of your trips in a span of 10 years rather than a span of one year? Do you think you had the appropriate amount of time to enjoy each place, soak it in, before moving on to your next destination?

That's an awesome question! I often compared my year with Contiki to running a marathon and I think that analogy is useful to answer your question as well. I COULD have run smaller races throughout my life, but there's something really appealing about pushing myself to its absolute limit and cramming all that travel into 300 days: living out of hotel rooms, meeting new people each week, trying new foods, and seeing new countries/cities/cultures every other day. It really did become my own version of a marathon. And just like many people - even runners - might never want to take on a marathon (maybe they're content with a 5K, 10K, or a half), I think travel is super personal and people should experience it in whatever way they can extract the most enjoyment out of it. I actually thrived off the go-go-go nature of the trips and knowing I would be in a new city or new country every other day was really exciting for me. But I also completely understand the appeal of fully immersing yourself in a new culture for an extended period of time and I would NOT recommend this kind of trip to people who are looking for that. And - the best part for me - is that I wouldn't have documented my life like this if I spread the trips out. So now I have some of the most amazing experiences of my life available to re-live whenever I want!

@@CVDL Completely understand. You do you!!! I am living vicariously through your travel videos. I am dumbfounded of why you have so little subscribers and views. Your content is top notch. It's like I am there with you....I was waiting for you to travel to Japan, Singapore, and Taiwan....maybe one day you will go there and you will take us along for the ride. Have you reached out to the Travel Channel for a job? You can be the new generational Samantha Brown....When they ask for your resume, you can show them your footage....

Where did you have the best mashed potatoes?

Hahahaa. The best mashed potatoes I had was in Cusco - mentioned in the “Sacred Valley” episode. I don’t remember the name of the restaurant, but it was just so good! We had some pretty good potatoes in Scandinavia too... but nothing like that!

Do you have any tips for those of us over 30 that are looking to do a Contiki?

I think the key is to go in with an open mindset and realize you're with a group of people that all have different likes/dislikes and age plays only a small role in those interests. Some of my closest friends were the youngest people on the trips and it's because we just saw the world in the same way and enjoyed each other's company. I think the common theme I found amongst those that were "older" and didn't seem to enjoy themselves as much (which only represents a few people of the hundreds I met during my year) is that they created some artificial barrier in their mind that age played a role and almost went out of their way NOT to have fun. I'm not a big partier (or even a big drinker) but I still went out, had fun, and didn't judge anyone who wanted to enjoy their trip differently than I did.
