Semmy Schilt the GOAT of heavyweight kickboxing. A very big man who knew how to use his size with knees, kicks, and stiff jabs. He has knocked out the who's who of kickboxing. If you have been on a Ring or fighting kyokushin, I tell you, you know how challenging it is to fight a much taller and heavier person, this is why I left the Kyokushin because I was not big enough to be sparing against giants and get home all broken. Funny enough, in the Muay Thai I hardly ever got hurt.
@casz7098
Жыл бұрын
Multiple weight classes help a lot as well. When you're at the lower end in one of just 3 weight classes it can be 40lb difference. I was a kyokushin fighter as well, until I turned pro for kickboxing. I was skinny so when I did kyokushin so my sternum was always banged up and would actually crack when I stretched my chest. Now after a 10 year pro kickboxing career my head is all banged up. I can see why you would take even less damage in MT. Clinching stalls and takes away from striking volume, also MT fighters tend to throw a lot of big one timers because it's a power style, which makes it easier to defend your head but when you get caught you're on rubbery legs.
