The facts you are speaking about the government assistance is astounding! I wasnt raised on PA but i 2008 i lost my job of 19.75 years. After my unemployment ran out and I still didnt have a job, I went to HRA for assistance and the way the were trying to make me jump through hoops to get a little help was sickening! I told the case worker to forget it! How yall give a 20 year felon everything up release but wont give a tax payer of 30 years some assistance?? Make it make sense!

so proud of you jazzy. I was born and raised in BROOKLYN (Linden Plaza) My mom didn’t start making 6 figures until my 11th grade year in HS. We didn’t struggle. We always had a Christmas and birthday but I know a single mom with 4 kids money was TIGHT. She had her home built in the Poconos (junior year in HS) and told none of my sisters and I. I came home one day from school and she said we’re moving this is your last week in Murray Bergtraum. Was I upset with my mom YES! I was saying the same things your girls were saying. Now, at 29, I can proudly say that I am grateful for the journey and the accomplishments I have achieved thus far. My upbringing has taught me the importance of hard work, persistence, and gratitude for the opportunities that come my way. Going back to NYC triggers me. But when I’m home I’m home and I feel at peace. I moved out and got my own apartment in Bethlehem, PA. I like it WAY more than the Poconos. Poconos isn’t bad but it’s more for newlyweds who wants to start a family and older people.

I grew up in Brooklyn too (Pink Houses) and my sister went to Murray Bergtraum and was a top basketball player there. Thankfully she got a full scholarship to college. Now she lives in a 6 bedroom, 5 bathroom house in ATL and is a Realtor there. I'm still in NYC (Southside Jamaica Queens) but I'm looking to move soon. My 2 daughters are grown now, and my oldest daughter wants to move to North Carolina. I have a MBA degree, I'm an ESL Instructor, A Notary Public in NYC, and I write Urban Fiction books, so hopefully when I relocate, I can continue to make lucrative income. That is so cool your Mom surprised yall with a new house in the Poconos. I know it was whole different scenery and environment from ENY. ⚘️

We used PODs when moving between states in 2022. The cost was $5000 because we utilized their storage for 6 months while we house hunted. We ended up taking over a new construction and it took longer than its original completion date to finish building. But once completed, we scheduled delivery and PODs delivered to our new location and picked up the empty POD a few days later. It was soo easy and refreshing. For reference, we moved a 4 bedroom 2 bath house and we packed it in two PODs. The PODs prices are based on the POD size. Good luck.

For both you and your children’s comfort, you should take as much of your current items as possible. Making your new house feel like “home” will help everyone feel more comfortable for the first few weeks when you get there. This will especially be important if you don’t have transportation and won’t be able to run to the store to pick up things. I relocated my mother from Ohio to El Paso Texas and back and used them everytime , when you break down the cost of driving, finding someone to drive and having the stress of driving all them miles with children it’s worth it! Also, depending on what state you move to there are lots of places like JD Byrider, who as long as you have an income they sell a car to you. I put $300 down and only pay $350 a month. It’s worth it to look into once you’re at your destination.

I knew you were in CT when you said it was old and expensive 😂. You really have to know CT to find an affordable rental in a nice area. The closer you are to NY though the nice areas are way more expensive. Even the not so nice places are more expensive.

Girl Pa. is huge, a lot of nice areas. Still fairly cheap. Ohio. There's so many options but you are correct, NY ain't it. My dad moved us to Brooklyn when I was 3 months old for work...my mom told him no way I'm raising my kids here lol so they we came back to Jersey. That was in 1980/81 so I can only imagine raising children in this day and age.

Hey sis, Jazz you can rent a car and a U haul trailer and drive there. Bring most of y’all things with you. When you arrive leave the rental car and U haul at an affiliated locations to the both. I believe this maybe cheaper than purchasing 5 plane tickets. We all want what’s best for you’ll!!! Be safe on this journey!!

I moved from Jersey to NC with my three kids twice. I only took our clothes. I put them in bags and totes and got on. The difference is though, I drive. If you can’t find anyone to drive I would honestly use the moving service. At least the load and unload the truck for you. Definitely get a few quotes though because there are plenty of moving companies. I know the oddity diaries just moved from Jersey to NY and used a moving company. Try looking into them, I don’t know if she has a discount code or not.

My mother moved to SC from NYC with no car no license and made a way. She found a place where stores was around her where she can walk. She had all 5 of us walking with her shopping cart or she called a cab. She literally didn’t get her license until 10 years later.
