I’ve just started researching about notebooking and have watched a few videos now. Yours has been the most helpful thus far. Thank you!

We love notebooking! I highly recommend the book Carry on Mr. Bowditch. It's based on a true story during the revolutionary war. It shows how difficult it was for Americans during the war and also talks about notebooking. It was my kids and my favorite read aloud last year!

Lol, im doing good to get my son to put something coherent on the paper. He is capable but dislikes anything remotely school related! Thank you for your tips! Especially not correcting! My son gets an attitude when it comes to school. I had hoped journaling or notebooking would help him process, but he loathes writing entirely and claims he doesn't like to draw, either. Im going to try again next school year with a little different approach... 🥴~Liz

We do note booking page after each read aloud. For our kindergartner she tells me what she remembers about the book and I write it then she draws a picture to go with it. I use clear page protectors like you do. Occasionally I print out a free field trip questionnaire and that goes in their notebook binder as well.

Thank you for sharing! I love this over endless worksheets to fill out after reading. I’ve tried simply narrating afterward and they look at me with blank faces. I’m going to add note booking to see if this helps their attention span.

🙂Maybe "Stages of the Earth"?🤣. I've been doing lapbooking with my kiddos which is fun but can also be a lot for me to prep lol. I'm also considering note booking which I also want to try and see what works for us. Thanks for the info and examples of how and when you have implemented it!

Do you notebook with books you do together or some of their independent work, too? thanks 🙂

Great question! I’ve done both. You can notebook for anything! I usually do it with group subjects but there is nothing wrong to have your child do a page from independent work. It will only reinforce what they have learned.
