I'm stoked you looked this over! I stumbled upon it years ago and like to tell people about it every chance I get. It's such a weird little bit of RPG history and the fact that the license predates the OGL really fascinates me. But sadly it entirely flies under the radar and I've never found any 3rd party or fan-made material for it that hasn't been lost to time. If you like the Priestcraft/Witchcraft aspects of the game, you might also like the d100 game Renaissance by Cakebread & Walton. It has some in-depth rules for alchemy effects, such as imbuing arrows/bolts/cannonballs with magic and causing them to multiply in mid-air; and witchcraft rules that allow a group of people to pool their MP together to cast very large and powerful spells like blessing/blighting crops or causing downpours.

Me. I'm the weird uncle. This is a game I never knew I loved but watching this brought back huge flashbacks of homebrewing idea after idea hammering away at campaign notes that would never be run because it was the late 3.5-era and nobody was willing to play anything else. Long after I gave up on trying to hack D&D into a shape I liked but well before I decided to just explore each and every game I could touch (and finalizing on first Fuzion then later my own ever evolving engines).

giving up on hacking D&D is probably the best decision an RPG guy can make. (I mean, almost every RPG can be hacked to an extent, but D&D people are just crazy with trying to bend D&D over itself for everything)

@@adzi6164 Star Wars Saga Edition, the game WotC put out between 3.5 and 4E. A half step between the two and better than both as at being D&D.

I GM using this system with my friends. There are a few issues as you get further long namely Armor becoming insignificant once you reach WithIn of 12. WIP not being useful after their within is higher than your max possible WIP. WithMag completely negating certain spells with no counterplay and a few more. That is fine though, because of how open this game is we modified it to make it more balanced and encourage taking penalties against high armored or magic resistant creatures to pierce through their protection. One of the players and I were looking into Mythras to get a better lategame feel balancewise but the simplicity and general elegance of DR is amazing. We have a lot of fun with the system.

Oh hell yeah, I was a fan contributor to an old version of Dominion way way back in the day. I was an idiot and had no idea what I was doing, but it spoke to my idiot brain and sparked an unerring urge to create. That's good nostalgia right there.

This game looks like it would suit a low-power S&S campaign setting. Have you seen the house rules that Me, Myself and Die has created. A Social Composite (Intuition+Intellect) (Persuade, Command, Inspire, Intimidate, Deceive): kzitem.info/news/bejne/zHuOqqKgnmehmno

I use that rule in my game as well, but add one more skill to the social composite of "Resolve" which acts like parry/dodge/block work in the combat composite, meaning that when you try to use a social skill (persuade, command, intimidate, etc) the person you are trying to effect can roll their resolve to provide a penalty if they roll under their resolve skill. This way its harder to influence people with high resolve.

It’s kind of unfortunate that the magic was skipped. There’s a lot to it, and you can do some pretty epic things with it. It comes with some pretty big consequences too.

Yeah, I wrote out a section for it and it added an extra 3 minutes, so it was either make a 12+ minute video or cut it alongside Priestcraft.

That’s fair. The back and forth of offensive and defensive moves is the most interesting part of this game anyways. Magic makes this game feel like a completely separate game. It can be pretty easy to break the game too, if the DM doesn’t do a lot of on the fly rulings for spells. Less so with Priestcraft which is more limited.
