There are VERY few YT channels that present their subject matter in such a natural, genuine, relaxed, beautiful, never boring manner, no matter how routine the subject matter may be... Oh, by the way, women are almost always late and men are almost always early, just the way it is...I could almost taste that food looking at it and the music was a treat...till next time.

I love your shadow in the genoa at the end, nicely done and... Oh my god Boga's face at 01:30! She is the cutest. Reefing early is always good marine practice. 3-4 knots is nice and relaxing, likely no heeling. Here in the PNW it is now cold (4-6C) and wet with rain almost every day. The other day my anchor light flew off the top of the mast and barely missed Gillian's head. So here is a project : I am replacing all the 30 years old Nav lights for LED. I do not think I ever anchor with 8:1 scope! Thanks for the lovely episode. Salut à Paul.

oh I love that you spotted that Genoa shaddow clip. I really liked it as well and thought it was kinda nice there in the end but also a bit of a bummer because many people don`t get that far so a bit of a waste back there...But double happy to read that you not only saw it but also liked it :)))). Your batteries will probably be happy about that swap of Nav lights :). Having cruised the PNW, I can see why maybe you won`t anchor 8:1...That would ask for a long scope up there at times...;)

Yes, Paul and I had parted way back then when I stayed in Costa Rica and he moved on north to El Salvador. Then he was so kind to sail back down to northern Costa Rica to buddy boat back up with me to El Salvador ☺️ it was a great help because I had not single handed in a while and it always feels so much safer knowing someone else is sailing close by. We then spent some time together in El Salvador before I moved on. But you will have to wait for that to come up in the next videos 😋

@@WhiteSpotPirates Yes, this lesson has been learned, over and over again, however cliché this sounds...life is shorter than we might think. Personally, I use: "how can I miss you if I don't go away (sometimes)"? But sometimes, all it takes is going away for a few hours, maybe a day or two, then a new appreciation of the gifts we were given emerges.

So funny. There's always instruments on sailboats. Not that much on powerboats. I never sail, or go anywhere else without my Takamine 6 string. I loved Paul playing harp and you on the ukele. Andy, from Sailing Melody, recently, a month ago, published a video in which he used an engine as a drummer and played with that on his....guess what....6 string Taka. Both worlds combined.

Jon Sanders said in an interview he prefers to solo sail in a sail config people would call "under canvassed. In winds up to 15kts with one reef in the sail and the jib flattened with a few furls. Stead progress, less load on gear". I guess he knows what he is doing, went around 11 times (one trip was three times non-stop unassisted), last time arriving at the age of 81. You are not racing, why push it?

Hi Ed, I guess that’s quite a bit up to said sailor and what he or she likes. You could take a course…or look for a crew position where no previous experience is needed or you could ask in a local yacht club if someone sometimes takes people with them when they go out. Those are some ways I can think of but I am sure there are more
