hi sorry for the random/stupid question.. im looking to install a heat alarm incase of fire.. would you happen to know how 'big' a fire would need to be in a room for the alarm to go off? I understand its around 53 degree C but unsure what this is in terms of size of fire (hard to answer depending on room etc i guess)

Yes there's many variables such as but not limited to room size, ceiling height, the type of fuel burning. Smoke detectors can provide warning before flames begin, and since far more fire fatalities are caused by smoke and toxic fumes rather than contact with flames, heat detectors are required to plainly state "Not a life safety device " or similar wording and is not to be used as a substitute for a smoke detector. Instead they are intended to protect property
