I fully support Hyde’s stance here on Buchner. It’s almost inarguable. If you can’t see the utility of him in the red zone….🤷🏼♂️

In theory, I completely agree with you and Tim. And, if Leonard gets banged up this year, they should use Buchner in red zone/short yardage situations. BUT, please go watch Riley Leonard’s highlight reel from Duke. What stands out immediately is how effective he is in the red zone, specifically on the goal line. He’s a triple threat (run, pass, hand off) and if he does run, he is deceptively fast and always falls forward. He has a nose for the end zone. Ask Marist lol! He’s practically unstoppable. So, if you take him out on goal line, it’s like taking Mariano Rivera out in the 9th inning for Trevor Hoffman. Hoffman was great, but Mariano was the best. If Hartman was still the QB, Buchner would have a role.

@@andrewgilmore1443 Mariano Rivera...Now that is a comparison I didn't see coming. Now watch Buchner runs and you see the same type of runner as I explained in the show. Why have Riley take all the hits when you have someone on the bench who played that "Wildcat" role in 21 and 22 is all I am saying? I'm not talking about 100 carries over the season now. I talked about a little role, and a role Denbrock can create some chaos out of. I'm just going outside the box and having some fun with the idea is all. Always appreciate your viewpoints on the shows.

Tim, thank you for setting the record straight on 2 things: 1. Hartman revisionism and 2. The state of the WR room. On Hartman: Did he live up to the hype? No. But, look who he was throwing to! He had one consistent weapon in Mitch Evans (although, inexplicably, Parker never geared the passing game around Evans. He would try to establish a WR first, fail, and then pivot to Evans). The next best weapons were a converted RB, a walk on true Freshmen lacrosse player and two additional true Freshmen. The supposed #1 receiver was a true sophomore who had 1 catch prior to the season. Additionally, he was a given a 1st time play caller as OC. I am saying 1st time because all ND media outlets went out of their way to say that the WVU head coach did not give up play calling (which that is debatable based on reading WVU media). On the WR room: I am pleased that Freeman has fixed QB recruiting. He deserves an A+. BUT, I am not going to do jumping jacks until he fixes the WR room, which has been the biggest and most glaring problem since he took the job. I realize that Freeman can recruit multiple people at once, but there is only 24 hours in a day. If he truly has the “Freeman Factor” he needs to be all in on WR recruiting from here on out. These QBs can’t throw the ball to themselves!

Always appreciate you watching and joining in the chat with us. Sam Hartman was never this dual-threat QB/magic man coming to ND. He was a really good ACC QB at Wake who after 5 years was not going to the NFL. At Wake he excelled in play action, back shoulder fades, and was outstanding on deep stop/out routs.....Did Freeman/Parker/Gino do any of these in 2023? As for the management of the WR room in 22 & 23 I can talk for an hour. We will see how these tranfers pan out for 24.

Missed the first part. Tim's comment on his grandfather reminded me of an uncle I had. He was stationed at Pearl when the war started, drove landing craft in the early amphibious assaults, and ended the war on a UDT. And Gettysburg is a great visit! I predicted Buchner would be back on the team the moment he came back but I see him being back at QB and a certain QB transfering as a result. But that is just a wild prediction. I don't see this as such a great thing, but for other reasons.

DT has been a struggle in recruiting for reasons off the field with most elite recruits, but WR us no excuse! Taking too many "project" recruits early and leaving no room for legit help and the big fish.

Dallas Golden would be the best WR commit right now if that's what he was being recruited to play. The staff will have Deuce Knight on campus with Derek Meadows for their OV's, that's a big recruiting strategy and hopefully it pays off.

Ronnie Lott and Steve Atwater made pretty good defenses by being the best player at FS position. I think ND and its outlets need to prioritize exploiting the fs position if we want the recruiting to get better in the position. This off-season was the perfect time to strike and we’re missing out on it. I mean we have a returning Thorpe winner for God’s sake. When’s the last time we had that smh
