The Persian New Year Nouruz and the Kurdish New Year Newroz as well as several other folk cultures in the same area are celebrated in connection with the vernal equinox on March 20.
For today's Persians, Afghans, Azeris, Baluchis and Kurds, Nouruz / Newroz is the highlight of the year and is the most important holiday of the year. The celebration, which is non-religious, coincides with the vernal equinox and can be traced as far back as the ninth century BC. Like the Western New Year, Nouruz symbolizes rebirth. Nouruz also means 'new day'.
Folk musician and cultural award winner Rostam Mirlashari releases his long-awaited solo album "Rozhnak". For almost thirty years in Sweden, his charismatic voice as a front figure for the world music band Golbang has won an internationally diverse and ever-growing audience interest. For over twenty years he has produced Kista World Music Festival whose goal is to enrich Sweden's music and cultural life and to illuminate the multifaceted and multicultural place that Kista, Stockholm and Sweden are. Rostam, born into the nomadic and indigenous civilization of Baluchistan, is today recognized as a culture and tradition bearer as well as a performer of folk music from the southeastern province of Iran.
Rozhnak's album, "The Light", which is Rostam's tenth album, contains songs that are described as an "explosive deep dive and interaction between the traditional music treasure of Baluchistan and the modern instrument set and accordion from the West". Rostam, who is also known as "Prince of baluchi music", highlights Baluchi music and gives voice to a culture that does not have an obvious domicile in the homeland he himself was forced to flee from. Together with their son, Bamshad Mirlashari (composer and co-producer of the entire album), they have with musicians from Sweden, Iran, Kurdistan, Afghanistan, Turkey and Chile, highlighted the hidden gold from Baluchistan that leaves the senses filled with warmth, intellect and hope. . The light has found its home
