Lived in the Seattle area for a few years...and the coolest things as a sports fan were 1) having Keith Jackson call the big PAC-12 football game most Saturdays and 2) watching Hawaii home games live at midnight...

Nice one! UCLA started 6-0 that year and finished 7-4. Oregon lost one game and probably should have played Miami in the Rose Bowl instead of Nebraska.

Not saying the ducks would have beaten that crazy good miami squad but they would have given them a better game than Nebraska did for sure

Oregon got beat by an average Stanford team in 2001. That Stanford team would have gotten waxed by Oklahoma, Texas, or Colorado from the Big XII. Oregon was rightfully placed in the Fiesta Bowl. And that game that they played against Colorado the Ducks weren’t that impressive as the game was much closer than the 38-16 final score. The Ducks secondary would have been shredded by Andre Johnson and the Miami Hurricane receiving corps. While Oregon had a really good quarterback in Harrington and a really good receiver in Samie Parker, Miami would have taken those two guys away and nobody else on that Oregon offense would have been able to pick up the slack. They would have gotten beat by the same amount as that Nebraska team in the title game, but probably worse

@@alexkain8564 Stanford went 9-2 in 2001, including a 10-point win over then-unbeaten UCLA. They were ranked in the top 15 when the regular season ended. Oregon absolutely belonged in the Rose Bowl against Miami.

@@markd.5471 UCLA ended up losing four games in a row so they proved to be vastly overrated in 2001. If Stanford was that good, then they would have gotten a better bowl than the Seattle Bowl, in which they were handled by Georgia Tech
