Great demo as usual. You’ve quickly become one of my go-to synth channels. I’m about to finally buy one so I’m sure I’ll be returning to this. Can’t think of another company supporting their products like Novation is. They’ve definitely set the standard here.

Loving this. In regards to the melodic stock overlay 2 that you are using first, is anyone able to give me some pointers of how to make a patch that has similar sounds as the melodic chords on the right hand? So as they can be played across the keyboard in a regular patch? Or perhaps one of the pre sets in one of the packs? I haven't come across anyhting yet.

Not sure about the particular sound, but to get a chord sound from the BS2 do the following: - Init a new patch - Hold the function button down. While it's held down, turn the coarse tune knob to +12 semi-tones. Holding function and turning the tuning knobs tunes the sub-oscillator. So this tunes the sub-oscillator to the same octave as osc 1, instead of one octave below. It also "unlocks" the sub-osc so it isn't tied to the tuning of osc 1. - Let go of the function button, now with osc 1 selected, turn the coarse tune knob to +4 semi-tones. - Switch to osc 2, and turn the coarse tune knob to +7 semi-tones. Now when you play a C, the sub-osc is playing C, osc 1 is playing E, and osc 2 is playing G. So you get a standard major chord sound. For minor just tune osc 1 to +3, same for any other 3 note chord, just use the appropriate intervals. FWIW personally think it sounds nicest with all three oscs set to square/pulse, but experiment. Now you can shape your sound however you like.

new to making music/synths, can you please explain how to tune the oscillators to play notes/two or three note chords so they are musically similar?

You asked this a while ago, but here's an answer. So looking at theory a little, a chord is usually three or more notes played simultaneously, and the intervals between the notes give the chord its quality. Very basic chords often consist of a root note, a third, and a fifth. The intervallic relationship between the root and third determines if a chord is major or minor. On a synth if you have the ability to tune your oscillators (and if the data is given in "cents"), tuning the oscillator up or down by 100 cents will change the note by one semitone (or one half step). So, say you have one oscillator in tune and then detune another oscillator up by 300 cents you'll get a minor third interval. 400 cents that will give you a major third interval. That will probably be sufficient to get that minor or major chord vibe, but for example if you can tune another oscillator up 700 cents you'll also have the fifth, and therefore a full chord.

Hello where from are going rythm on this video? Isn't it Bs2? Have this synth some hold button? Thank you so much ❤️

I’m arpeggiating the keys I’m holding. The bottom 3 are playing rhythmic sounds - the top note is a chord. All played in AFX mode.

great video. I've been having serious GAS for BS2 even after the paraphonic update. the AFX update is crazy. I really want one but my studio is really full. and..... someone is returning a synth because a youtuber (who is not affiliated with the manufacturer) made a video they didn't like... did they ever heard of reading the fucking manual? people are the worst.
