Becky, you are a beautiful soul and wonderful daughter. Your comment brought tears to my eyes. So many of our elderly and/or disabled don't have someone who cares enough to make them feel special and loved. As a retired/disabled critical care RN, I have seen too many that are neglected and alone. I love seeing families (and friends) who care - and there ARE many. Your comment was particularly sweet and inspiring. God bless!

I liked this podcast! Learned so much about y’all ....a lot of things I’ve always wondered about since watching your channel. My dad was a firefighter, his fire chief sent my dad across the street to my new husband ( we were 20) to tell him if he got his haircut he could have a job as a firefighter. My husband later became the fire chief of same fire department. We had twin boys ( they are firefighters, another boy 3 years later and he was intent on being a firefighter, but became a police officer here in our town, then 23 months later we had a our girl, she was going to be an English high school teacher and cheer coach, ...while in college found out she liked math after all, she is now our City Code and Planner for our city. Enjoy those beautiful kids they grow up so fast! Enjoying our 10 grandkids now!....yall will be there before you know it! - watching from Lake Wales, Florida

Jeremy, I think it is just great that you have felt your role in the family is the provider and protector! You have helped to make your family feel safe. At the same time you have given Melissa a lot of credit for her role as home economist while being a stay at home Mom. Melissa, you have poured your heart and soul into being a Mom. Life does change when the kids grow up. It was a change when our youngest started school. Then one by one the kids left the nest. I missed our oldest daughter when she decided to be a traveling nurse. It was good experience for her but I still missed her. I am a grandmother now but I will always be a Mom while I am living. We are blessed to have our three kids close by. Our oldest daughter is flying distance from us and we are thankful for facetime so we can see her and our grandson. Thank you for sharing your feelings and how you got to where you are today. I think these podcasts will be special times for you and Jeremy to connect without distractions or chores to do.

We've been married for 50 years. When our son told us he wanted to make his mark on the world and left home after graduation at the age 17, I was stunned. We are a very close family so this took us by surprise. He moved 400 miles away, no job , no home. He couch dived at various friends homes. I cried my eyes out with worrying. He dug his heels in and found a great job and got his own apartment. He's 49 now and I am filled with pride. He's a good man. Your life after children starts out tough. You walk around saying , now what? But you and Jeremy will become like newlyweds again. My husband and I have alot of fun and are very close. You will love the next chapter...your still young yet.

My husband and I have been married for a little over 48 years, and have two sons in their early to mid 40’s. It is a pleasure to hear others of your generation talk of marriage as if it is something to be worked at and not something to be thrown away. So many young people go into marriage as something to “try”, and if it doesn’t work or they don’t get their way, they will just get a divorce. I love seeing your videos and look forward to them every week. I have thoroughly enjoyed this podcast. Keep up the good work.

what you are saying is HUGE - the most successful marriages I've seen in my life had SHARED goals and used that as a filter for whether to say YES, NO, or NOT YET to something. It's one thing to say yes to something that helps you learn the skills you need down the road for your ultimate goals vs. saying yes to something that could completely derail you financially, emotionally, and/or physically.

I totally understand, Melissa, when you shared about worrying about Nevaeh being out with her friends and driving. When my daughter was about 8 or 9 years old, my grandma told me that my daughter will be a 16 before you know it. You need to let go of worry about her making mistakes. Let her fall and be there for her when she does. Grandma added you need to make her a strong, confident and kind woman who knows her worth. Through the years of raising my daugther as a single mom, my grandma's words a wisdom helped me not listen nor compare myself to other mothers, but rather love, cherish the moments, and help her become the woman God made her to be.

Then we became grandparents. That has become a major joy. Conversations do evolve into sharing memories and funny things that we have done or the kids did growing up. We still have dreams and want to do different things. We like to be home. We enjoy each other's company and home is our happy place. This year we celebrate our 44th anniversary on the 20th of this month and we still are so in love if not more than the day we said I Do. We can see our kids and grandkids. They stay with us sometimes for a night and even longer at times. Enjoy your times with each other and you will be able to transition to each stage of your life with comfort. ❤❤❤

I have to say your broadcast held my attending and so right on! I was a single Mom with 6 kids and they have since moved on with their lives . Some I'm closer to than others but having grown kids it wonderful and the best is the grandkids. After saying that I miss them as children ,the noise ,the business, and the list goes on. I now am raising a grandson from age 3 to now begin 9 and the he has filled up that hole and has brought new live into our home. I feel you about the driving, their new found "freedom", praying they making good choices ,not speeding and the relief I felt when they drove into the driveway . Only my oldest of the 6 ever went for a Driver's license while begin in his teens. Thank you Jesus! Begin a young parent is hard I had my last one at 27. You definitely are acing it. My husband of 16 years is like Jeremy and I vision a flowing river and never swim up stream. Just let it go because it causes too much stress! Love both of your channels!!!!!

I am a GSL fan, found you way back and have watched your videos since and love every one of them. This first podcast is like a deep look inside of your soul, the events in the beginning and the road taken. Thank you for sharing this with us. There were always bits and pieces that you shared about your lives before coming here but after watching this I would say I've gotten the complete story of the beginning of your lives. Thank you for sharing it with us, your thoughts, choices, decisions you took and the path you've taken it was bittersweet. Thank you again. Love from Trinidad.

Both of you make an incredible team, and thank you for sharing this with us!! On another note, do not come to the Washington d.c. (domain of criminals) area, alot of the radical leftists have destroyed this area, in a spiritual way! It is insane to live here and safety is from prayer, not the police!! It is not the same area I grew up in back in the late 1950s!!! I am trying to get out so that I can homestead in a rural and safe area!! Blessings in abundance to you and your family, and thank you again for sharing so deeply about how you two make such an awesome team!!

Who you are is why we love you. Good Simple Clean Living. Am I the only one who appreciates Jeremy's deep voice! Melissa, I felt exactly the same way when I left the hospital with my daughter! The hospital experience was dis empowering. When we were finally released..... I kept wondering if someone would stop me from taking her home!

Wow! I related SO much to this podcast. There were a few significant parallels and things in common with you guys that I enjoyed discovering! I am a little further into the changing motherhood role, 3 out of 4 kids are moved out and 1 has been married 4.5 years and another is getting married in Sept. All I ever wanted to be was a wife & a mom. I have thrown myself into growing cut flowers, fall decor, enjoying my horses, and finishing up my homeschooling journey strong with our youngest son who just turned 17. So far it has been good changes its just interesting to get used to the changing roles where they need more so much differently than they did at younger ages. I enjoy having the brain space to pursue creative things & explore more ways I can earn money and contribute (I felt much like you mentioned feeling like you had to contribute even though your husband never expected me to earn $, we had decided I would be a SAHM before we married so I am not sure why I always felt I needed to go above & beyond). The plants still need me....I can fuss over them and they don't mind. Haha. Really enjoyed this format and learning more of your story.

I have four kids as well and you are so right that their childhood goes by so fast. They are all adults now but they come home all the time which I love. Plus we have three grandkids so far. So don’t think that it’s over once they leave the nest. You will just have a whole new chapter in your life again! ❤ plus your relationship with Jeremy will blossom. Enjoy your life and I love watching your videos.

You guys are courageous, that is such a big decision and I am grateful that it has worked out for you all. Your enthusiasm and determination has been amazing to see. Leaving home is hard, I am ex British forces and know full well about moving and changing life. I find I still always get butterflies when I go or do new things, but I still do them. Hats off to you both. Great podcast.

I am not real sure what a podcast is supposed to be, but this was a very short one hour look into your life. You both were GREAT! So relaxed and sincere about what you have experienced in life together. At first, I thought, well this will be a slow 1 hr. They are not working on the build, that I love to watch, so guess I'll just kill some time and see what happens. Glad I did. You are spot on with your insight about life and family matters. Can't wait till next Wednesday to see pt.2. Good luck and GOD bless you.

Love your new format and your intimate talk podcast! My wife and I are in our 70s (me, late 70s) with grown and successful sons but all parents go through the anxiety throughout kids lives that we're not doing enough, not doing things right, must keep them safe, etc. Our sons have told us that "You did OK, more than OK, you taught us what you knew, what you experienced, mistakes you made trying to teach us not to make the same mistakes. That's what you needed to do and we're OK! Don't sweat it!". All parents go through the "did I do enough?" phases. I struggle with "I need to do more but I can't 'I'm not enough'". Life beats on us constantly but we have to realize that all we can do is all we can do. At the end of any given day or "phase" we have to rest in that we did what we could with what we had. You two have an amazing pathway you've told us about in your first podcast. You have accomplished so much and have much to be grateful for and yes, you reach for more, always. I've so enjoyed your construction journey and now your journey is taking you in a different path with your podcasts. Exciting times, hang on, you've got this, too! 🙂💖👍👍

Wow an amazing first podcast. You both are wonderful parents and people. Our childhood determines how we turn out as adults and your kids are gonna be great adults. I believe in tradional roles. It the way we were wired. It works. And success is measured by just never giving up. When you feel you have failed just don't give up. That's success. You guys said so much that resognated with me. I'm so excited by this new adventure. It's gonna be great. P.s. love the new podcast studio. You did a beautiful job on it like all your projects. Good work.

There are so many seasons you have ahead of you and each has special pleasures. I became a grandmother at 45 and it changed me forever. I'm not trying to rush it for you but if you think you enjoyed being a parent, it's even better to be a grandma. At 65 now, I hope to still be in good enough shape to babysit some great grandchildren when they come along.😊 Relax and enjoy. Jeremy, stop letting Satan's arrows find landing spots. You and Melissa provide a loving home. Let the desire for perfection go, you'll make yourself unhappy. You're raising great kids and that's real success!

Excited to see these! Congratulations! Can't wait to see more. I think an hour is good, just my opinion. It would be fun to see you talk to Shawn and Andrew East or maybe other people who have packed their lives up and done something similar to what you've done and see how they're doing. It was nice learning about your beginnings.

You totally hit home with me on this one. All I ever wanted to be when I grew up was a mom. My last of four kids went to preschool two years ago and I didn't have a clue what to do with my life. I had quit my day are job that I started doing when my kids were little to help make our family money. My dad ended up passing away that September. (So I then knew why I felt I needed to quit daycare) by the end of Oct I jumped into working for the school in the lunch room...and have been there ever since. I keep telling everyone I don't know what I want to do when I grow up. I am doing what is wanted to do. ..and now as my oldest is going into Jr high (7th grade) I am seeing just how fast it really goes! Shopping with a preteen...yikes! Can't wait to hear more of these. I'm not aging my kids just are!

I throughly enjoyed listening to you both. It was insightful & also very calming. You’re both soft spoken, so voices were soothing while delivering thoughtful stories that are relatable. It was wonderful to watch this… so many things in this world at the moment can really hammer on one’s hope & faith. Me personally, I’m tired in my soul. After watching this? I felt peaceful & found myself finding hope in planning again. That there are places to get back to basic & find a simpler way to be. Loved it.

Listening to you two go on about how you got by when the kids were younger reminds me of my youth. Melissa, I stayed at home till I was 19 years old. Mum wasn't just Mum but also my best friend. Dad was in the Army and was deployed most of my youth, I'm the oldest of 4 boys and a girl so had to learn a lot to help out in the house and enjoyed it, especially the cooking. The kids will always love you for the way you bought them up. Jeremy, you really need to get out of your doubting yourself my friend. You've done so much for your family and you're still doing so much, you should feel grateful because you 2 are truly blessed finding each other when you did and with all you've both achieved together. Great first vlog
