True that! I've been trying to find as much feedback from the hosts/crew as possible just to see if this was as much of a blindside to them/you guys as it was to the fans. I normally don't get into so much of the "community" stuff on YT, but SourceFed was a huge part of my experience here. It was sad to see hosts leave, but it was understandable. It hurt to see the channel end and that was something that took the wind out of my sails... but now this!? Like Meg said, I understand the business side of it... but at the same time the whole thing felt so slimy, and I couldn't unsub fast enough. Glad all you have your own channels so we can follow the people we love from SF/SFN. You all made the channels what they were, and imo having that individual content from you all is far superior to any sort of "rebranding" effort that might occur with the old channels. Good luck on all your future endeavors, Miss Reina! Cheers.

It probably didn't go down that simply. The channel was likely sold to a 3rd party who had nothing to do with firing the SFN cast. Either way, the current cast was also likely more expensive than no-named new comers. Also, even if all that is not the case, SFN was not doing well. There was a reason it was sold off and cancelled. While people who liked it.. liked it a lot; more viewers that 'kinda like it' is better than few viewers who are die hard fans. Better to roll the dice with unknowns then know for sure your failing.

I've just been watching the subscriber count go down. Which is a bit depressing. Because those numbers represented those who were subscribed to SOURCEFED Nerd...Not "NowThis" Inheriting a subscriber count that another channel worked VERY hard to build up is bananas. ESPECIALLY because SFN was cancelled along with SF. If the SF Nerd had "merged" with NowThis and continued on - I bet this would have been taken a LOT better. But NowThis is basically Snape standing where Dumbledore stood "HOW DARE YOU STAND WHERE HE STOOD" except without any redeeming qualities of Snape But like...hopefully NowThis has the same end result that Snape got #NotMyNerd

Pretty odd rule of, "Any press is good press" applies here. Even if the 5% stayed subed to dislike and fuck around in their comment section, that's "engagement" meaning KZitem will take that and give them more ad revenue and etc. The worst case scenario for them if they lost everyone, in which case is no different than starting a channel from scratch.

The same thing happened to a Japanese channel I subbed to called Begiragons. They did that hamburger eating challenge that Gus talked about on the podcast a couple times. They got rid of all the talent and changed some of the format (and are completely dead now). KZitem channels are usually built on personalities, buying a channel and changing the talent is just buying subscribers. They may as well just be paying for views to promote a new channel from click farms. I understand (especially with KZitem being almost worthless for income in the past month) changing things up, but changing large portions of the talent involved is gutting the "You" from a KZitem channel.

I look at this from the perspective of a sports team. when a team changes General Managers the GM will normally clean house and bring in their people who share their way of doing things. keeping someone from the previous group can lead to "well when the other gm was here we did it this way" still the same team, in this case same concept, just different people running it. on a personal note I be pissed too. I was let go from production job I had for 6 years randomly one day and then seeing someone else doing my job there sucked.

As someone who unsubscribed from the Discovery owned KZitem channels some time ago, I figured it was only a matter of time before something like this was going to happen. For me Revision3 was the best thing on the internet from 2009, when I first started watching, to around 2013. I think that is when Discovery acquired Revision3 and Phill's channels. Shortly after that it went all down hill. They took something that could have been massively successful with really talented people and ran it into the ground pretty quickly. I'm glad the hosts from Rev3 and Sourcefed are doing great things now.

Is NowThis owned by the same folks who shutdown Soucefed or is it that they bought the channel? I know NowThis bought what was the Seeker Daily channel because I loved Seeker Daily and let's just say I think it took one video for me to unsubscribe after NowThis took over. They seem to be taking over a lot of channels I guess.

Tony M you should see the old Seeker Daily channel, they don't even post on it anymore and post on their old , so now we got two 'Now This' channels and a 'Now This Nerd' channel, They're clearly grasping at straws with this

a very nice response to a very angering thing. you're 100 percent right. what's the point of letting so many people go just to make the same thing? There's no sense in that...

I'll just quote someone from the "welcome" video that about sums it up: "Take it from someone who knows. This isn't the right way to do it." - Bruce Greene

Saw kind of the same thing with the old Tech TV channel when it was bought out and became G4.

I feel like this exact thing happens all the time with morning radio shows. I used to commute over an hour every day, and every couple years the radio hosts would be quietly replaced. Definitely a shitty way to treat employees, I'm guessing they do it to hopefully carry over most of the fans without much of a hiccup.

Hmmm... I think you understand it perfectly. I just think you're giving them way too much credit. Steve's absolutely right: they're attempting to capitalize on a captive audience in a way that gives them more control. Which means they haven't learned squat from the ruination of Daily Grace. Just sit back and watch the subscriber number drop towards the horizon, like a beautiful sunset.

i agree with you Meg, I subscribed to Nerd since day -1. i watch yall grow as a channel. but what pissed me off the most, why did they fire everybody?! Nerd had a wonderfully talented staff, both in front and behind the camera. why fire them?

You sum up my thoughts exactly. It's like, why didn't they keep the same staff or most of the same staff if they were just going to change the name but keep making content on it?

I can agree. They should have kept they old cast cause now it will be harder for them to create a whole fanbase now with new people

I'm upset over that shit. The only thing that should have happened to that channel is for it to remain an archive and unless they planned to bring back the actual SourceFedNerd, it should have stayed that way. This reminds me alot of the ending from FNAF: SL (I won't spoil it for you.)

I agree with Meg. I don't see why they couldn't keep at least SOME of the people that helped grow that channel that got people to subscribe in the first place

They are going to get a big backlash about this. SFNerd had and still has such a loyal following who were attached to the team / hosts.

Yeah, I have to agree with my fellow nerds. From a business aspect, I understand this; as someone who has been following Sourcefed and Sourcefednerd from their conception - I literally followed as soon as Phil announced the birth of Sourcefed and as soon as the Sourcefed crew announced nerd - this is a very large blow. Not only was Sourcefed/Nerd closed and the hosts and crew left without jobs, they've also sort of intruded on what is almost a family for many of us. We have been watching these people every day for years, they have become part of our lives. To take their jobs AND their followers... kinda scummy. What was the point of firing everyone if they were simply going to rebrand the channel? I like Now This, I have been following them on Facebook for quite some time and had they set up a separate Nerd channel, I would have GLADLY followed. But this is just wrong... like intruders in our home. I plan to seriously rethink my support for Now This. 😞
