In the NSGA-II main loop, when does the evaluation happen? There is one population Pt which is evaluated. Then with recombination and mutation the children are created (I assume Qt). Then parents an children are combined into Rt. But how to do non-dominated sorting (or crowding distance sorting) with Rt when the performance of the children is not calculated? Or does the evaluation of the children happen before the sorting ? That would mean that the new population to work with is not Pt+1 but Qt. Pt is then just some sort of cache to keep the all-time best individuals?

I think there is probably a typing mistake at 07:23, because in the definition of "dominance" at the bottom of the screen, you have 2 conditions in brackets which both have to TRUE for the "dominance" to be effective. The problem is, the first already contains the second, because if both x1 and y1 are less than x2 and y2 respectively, then of course either x1

Think in between the 2 brakets you need "or" instead of "and"

I want to apply the knowledge on Optimo (a tool made for Dynamo/Revit) for my masters research. Thank you!

00:02 NSGA-II helps find optimal solutions for multi-objective optimization problems. 02:34 Genetic algorithm uses survival of the fittest principle to find optimal solutions. 05:10 NSGA-II uses non-dominated sorting for population selection 07:49 Dominated sorting identifies individuals that dominate others 10:29 NSGA-II optimization involves finding different fronts based on domination count. 13:21 Non-dominated sorting results in sorted population RT due to its performance on target indicators. 16:04 NSGA-II optimization involves parent population selection and offspring creation 18:30 NSGA-II uses crossover and mutations in iterative process for optimization. you explained the offspring creation after the sorting. does the algorithm sort the start population? or is a offspring population created before the first sorting? cause that would mean nsga ii has a different pattern than the 'normal' GA which is selection->crossover->mutation for my understanding. so for nsga ii it would be crossover&mutation(offspring pop) first and afterwards selection through sorting!? otherwise great video
