Best vacuum I ever bought was a Henry, poor little sod lives in the garage! Bought it because it’s the only vac you can buy insane accessories for. Uprights today have stupidly short and or tight hoses that make the vac kick back etc, with Henry, I got a ten meter hose and he can stay in the garage while I can give the inside of the car a good seeing too without the risk of the vac falling over against the car etc. Great video, Henry clearly didn’t want to let go of your carpet without a bit of a struggle! Only accessory I don’t rate is the red air powered head, thought that was poor myself! Good video, enjoying your channel! PS, nice socks dude!

I got 2 spare bags with my Numatic James I got in January this year, the James feels way more powerful than our Dyson DC40 Animal Erp though, originally I wanted a numatic cleaner to do the likes my mum's car with but I got an Airobrush attachment and I use it more than the Dyson now, it's around 75-80db with the Airobrush on it and around 62-70 with standard tool. Henry looks good in any colour I think. You say the delivery people would have wondered what was going on, you could have been getting one for yourself and another for a family member for all they knew lol 😂

That switch is interesting, on the earlier videos on here of the Henry and Hetty 160 it appears to be the older usual type but this is different and also positioned the opposite way round. On looking on eBay at the Henry 200 it appears that the latest versions also have this different switch. The most recent Numatic I have is the PSP 180 manufactured 16th week of 2018 and it has the older switch, maybe they are changing them.

Jamie W I two have noticed those changes. I think it is like the plugs, they just use whatever components they are sent in. Not very consistent though!

9:07 weren't the locking handles were introduced at the same time as the 3d faces? (about 2013 ish from what I've read)

No, much earlier, 2006/2007, it was when they changed the switch layout from the push button on/off and rocker high low switch to the two dual rocker switches on too at the back. The “switch bank”.

no it's a work one, about 5 years old when I started working there (during the 2 years Ive worked there, the handle's never locked) ; I have however had a 2014 model from new, which the handle still locks on (it's still very stiff even now) We got a slightly older Hetty, second hand, last november and altho the handle DOES still lock, it's nowhere near as stiff! (I will eventually do a video of the Hetty when I get round to it!)

pardon me, the handle does indeed still lock, only very slightly tho! It's still slightly stiff when in the upright position but you can tell that it once locked when the vac was new

NumaticVacuum I prefer the square plug too. I also got mine in Argos. Mine is red. I almost got a blue one but I decided to go for the red one. I use it mainly for the car but I use it for the hard floors too but I usually use the V10 on the hard floors

In late 2017, Numatic changed their Managing DIrector and also promoted another director. They have taken Simon Lawson, previeously of TTI/Vax to be their new MD, and promoted Steve Whitlock to Finance Director. Maybe this explains why quality is falling and you only get 1 spare bag supplied. Vax were not known for their great quality and also famous for their shoddy, cheap build, and unreliable machines, and now Numatic hired their ex boss. I'll not be bothering with another Henry, thats for sure. They are pennypinching and the usual, typical corporate greed has set in. I would have included the link to cleaningmag dot com but since youtube wont allow me to cut and paste into the reply boxes any more, its too much hassle to type out the links every time.

MadAboutHoovers Hopefully it will just be a modern faze. I would never buy a Numatic product that was made in China. They really need to be careful with how much cheapening they do, otherwise they will run themselves into the ground!

I would imagine transferring all production to China will not be done as long as the current owner of the company stays in charge, but if he keeps taking on staff from competitor companies like Vax, then they will be gunning to have him out, so they can close down the UK factory and ship it all off to China, where they will churn them out for a fraction of the cost, just like they do with Vax, Hoover and Shark machines - but you can bet that their prices wont come down though - after all, the boardroom fat cat bosses want even bigger payouts and bonuses to be able to afford the latest supercar and yacht for themselves.

I wonder how many yachts James Dyson has? After all, he's worth 10 Billion now. One of the richest in the top 10 UK Rich List. He hasnt got that rich without cost cutting along the way, and I will never forgive Dyson for shipping all production off to Malaysia, but at least its not China - Chinese build quality and reliability is about the worst you can get.
@madabouthoovers9767

Indeed - Alex said to me that the cost of shipping the large commercial sit on machines would be very high, so they would stay in the UK. However, its not to rule out them making some of the smaller and cheaper machines in China, like Bosch now do, and even Miele assemble some cheaper machines for the US market in China. I think they are trying to appeal much more to domestic users now with the bigger range of Henry models, and the more "domestically focussed" packaging of the machines and the bags. The HVR160 would be OK for domestic use and pretty maintenance free too, for people sick of bagless vacuums that clog up and need endless maintenance, such as cheap Vax and Hoovers. I would never rule out them moving Henry production to China in the future though, but keeping production of the larger commercial machines in Chard.

I wouldn't have said it was pennypinching. The quality of everything has declined across every brand, it's not just Numatic and not just vacuums. However, I still believe Numatic are leaps and bounds ahead of most other brands on the market today in terms of quality and reliability. Really my only gripe is that floortool - I've switched the one on mine for once from a cordless, which is much nicer to use and more solid. I've got 3 Numatics - 1988, 2001 and 2016 models and you can see the quality decline across all 3. That was something that was happening way before Simon Lawson stepped in. I think the more obvious aims towards the domestic market are all his doing - the rebranding and compact size etc. Some of the new features I really like, such as the more solid wand storage and onboard tool storage. But I'm not impressed at some of the rebranding things they've done or the ditching of the 200 size. Personally I think it's better to give the buyer the option of either the standard or compact, depending on their needs.

So many people buttburt.I agree henries are weaker now but still stronger than dyson and other shit.I got 2 bags with my compact.They have to cost cut to remain feasible and make a profit.Finance directors and such hold the blame their.Numatic would never ever go to china as stated by Chris Duncan himself, their product line is too extensive to keep shipping over from china.No way to get a 100KG Ride on scrubber here cheaply.I love the compact and would urge people to get one.They perform well and arent to loud.Yes Id rather have a hvc based on build quality and such.But the compact is no shite machine.
