The top leadership of the National Unity Platform (NUP) has urged the former leader of opposition in parliament, Mathias Mpuuga, to seek repentance and forgiveness. According to Mufumbiro, Mpuuga requires the sacrament of penance, commonly referred to as reconciliation or confession. This is a religious ceremony in which a person confesses his faults and asks God and the people he has offended for forgiveness.
NUP fervently recommends that Mpuuga partake in the sacrament of penance before to presiding over a public Thanksgiving celebration. Mpuuga's misdeeds are currently unforgivable; in the absence of atonement, he is ambiguous and tainted by corruption problems that inevitably require purification, according to Mufumbiro. He claimed that Mpuuga's acts as a public figure have a significant effect on both him personally and the party, he claims to be a member of. Mufumbiro claims that since his decisions are frequently being watched, especially when he is interacting with religious authorities, he must be forthright and atone for his transgressions in order to clear his conscience.
