Hey Ty, This is exactly what I have been looking for! Our sound people at church seem to be content with the "Piezo Quack" I generate from my three different acoustic guitars, but I just really cringe when I hear that sound coming back to me in my ear monitors. I'm an old school x-rocker saved by grace. This IR solution has just come to my attention and it is better, and obviously more economical, than my previous consideration of installing LR Baggs Anthem PU/Mic in all of my guitars! Thanks for showing me the light!!! God Bless!!!

I just purchased. I run this through a fishman mini (I like control on stage if needed). I was hoping for a boost…but found that if I turn off the EQ on this while in a IR mode…it actually boosts the signal….yes…odd. I did run this before my LR Baggs venue ( running flat settings). The pedal sounds almost identical to my Baggs…but many more features. I feel like,e the pre loaded IRs sounded a bit “ thin”or a bit clunky. I have lots more work to do with the pedal…but I think it will do the trick.

Cool pedal and awesome review.....as always! :) Would be really cool to see a demo of this with an Electric guitar. Curious to see how the clean preamp takes drives and the modulation pedals would sit in the FX loop. Did you try using the HX Stomp for acoustic guitar? I've seen acoustic guitar IR's designed for effects like the Helix. On another note: great to see your channel grow! When I subscribed I think you had around 300 subs. You have one of the few channels I look out for when a new video comes out & for what it's worth - you inspired me to pick up my guitar and start making worship music again. God bless Ty & all the best for 2021 to you and your family.

Thank you so much! I really appreciate the support. I’m definitely curious to see how this pedal will do with an electric setup. I have it on the list for future videos. I have tried the stomp for acoustic and enjoyed the results. I just really like the sound of this optima air, so I tend to use it for my acoustic setup. That’s awesome that you’ve been able to pull some inspiration from my channel! That’s really encouraging. Thanks again for all the support! God bless.

I need to stop with the pedals already but I've been pretty impressed with demo's on this and shootouts against competitors. I'm intrigued because I'm wondering how it would sound on my Martin 000-15m with a Trace Amulet pickup. My Martin sounds horrible through my Tonedexter pedal no matter how many IR's that I've made. It made me wonder if the Tonedexter doesn't work well with the pickup. Oddly enough out of mere frustration and shit's and giggles I decided to run my Yamaha FGX-04-LTD through my Tonedexter and it sounds way better than the Martin. My setup is for looping so I've got a gang of pedals. I'd much rather use my Martin as I like the tone better and it's significantly lighter than the Yamaha. My dream gig axe would be a Maton Mini but this may be a cost effective way to go for me until I am able save up enough for that.

I have a takamine gd51. I tried this pedal for 20 days in a roll and I don’t see a reason to have this pedal when you know how to mix your guitar in the mixer. It didn’t improve the sound of my guitar. Only change the sound and made me carry one extra bag for the pedal, power supply and cables for my shows in cruise ships.

I have one on the way & I'm looking forward to making my own IRs.. I'm hoping I'll have good luck but we'll see.. I have an older Morgan Monroe that's pretty close to a Martin 000-28, it has an LR Baggs Lyric installed & I have a Godin nylon string Encore.. I have some nice mics & a Joe Meek VC1Q microphone preamp so I should be able to create some IRs if the Lyric system works with the NUX..

@@bjarkenielsen8515 Hey! If you’re referring to using it with IR’s made for electric, such as an IR made from a fender amp, then yes. However, it is not an amp modeler. Does this pedal allow individual gain levels for each preset? I have two guitars with different pickups and each has a significantly different output level (Gibson Songwriter Deluxe with LR Baggs Anthem SL pickup, and Martin DC1E with factory installed Fishman pickup). The Martin comes out pretty hot, while the Gibson is pretty low. Would I be able to have a preset for each and quickly switch between presets depending which guitar I’m plug in? Or would I have to fiddle with the gain knob each time I plug in a different guitar? (This is what I’m trying to avoid)

Hey Ty, question about the gain. When I plug into my mixer, what should the gain on the board be? Should I use one or the other or both?
@tycaskey

Hey there. A couple ways to look at this. This pedal is preamp, meaning you can run your mixer gain nearly off, or near off and let this pedal drive the input. You can also blend the preamps together. The most important thing is to monitor your input signal on the board. Make sure your gain staging is good.

Guitar pedals in general don't come with a power supply at all, friend. It is known, I knew from common knowledge so I got one cheap package with a daisy chain ($20 on Amazon) for my first acoustic fx and future pedals, which is a Chinese all in one, only to realize that it came with an integrated battery, a complete rarity. Shortly after I got a compression pedal (again, no power supply) and I was ready for it. Just this week I got the nux stageman floor since my all in one has everything but gain, and I connected again with my handy power supply in chain with the compressor. That's my experience, I got patch cables as well with the same pack and again, just for $20, I highly recommend getting armed with one of those, friend!
