Daniel, I'm sorry to tell you but I'm pretty sure that one of those cards has degraded silicone, this was a mighty good video, but we need a redo in the future with another GTX 295 ! Nonetheless, you've done a great job as always !

You're absolutely right. The GTX 295 was a beast of its time, and its price tag reflected that. The only problem i have is I think companies are trying to bring back that price difference. How would you feel about buying the most powerful GPU, the enthusiast-level GPU, for $29,999?

If underclocking the GPU helps, I think there are two possible causes: 1) problem with the voltage/power regulators, especially the tantalum/electrolytic capacitors that have may lost their parameters 2) actual degradation of the silicon die in the GPU - and that sucks because it can't be fixed :/ PS: If you are using SLI setup then enabling the V-Sync helps with stuttering.

My favorite model of the GTX 2xx is the GTX 275. It was awailable in a 1792mb version (I had one years ago). Awesome if you think of SLI. Se if you can find two of those, and crank up the graphics to utilize most of it, and see how it does in SLI. GTA V might be a very interesting game for a GTX 275 (1792mb) SLI config. The flagship GPU GTX 285 was also awailable in a 2GB version (which would be awesome at later time). BUT I never seen one. They were very rare.

Sounds like the GPU silicon has just degraded on one of the GPUs. It might had a hard (and hot) life. GTX 295 is practically two GTX 275 (the GT200B) It has a lot of raw performance with proper scaling. I remember I did a Quad SLI build with two of those back in early 2012, when they was possible to buy cheap 2nd hand (horrible investment in 2009). Quad SLI ..pretty useless IRL. But it's fun😊

Also if mix matched put slowest one in slot 1. Other then that it could be a dying gpu. Due to two different gpus each has different clocks on core and mem.
@DanielCardei
16 күн бұрын
There is a change when you mismatch two cards; you will have problems like this. Ideal would be to link them and lower the clock to the slowest. Put the slowest in front and lower the second to the first.

This is the perfect analogy when it comes to two GTX 295s in Quad SLI: like an old car with a big engine. It's loud, inefficient, and very dangerous. Everything can go wrong, but it's a lot of fun.
