Any of the APUs with a 780M would perform about the same. And use less power overall. The RX6400 is quite pointless, which really says something about the A400. Like, what is the use case here? Basic display adapter for an overpriced Xeon workstation that could be replaced with much cheaper consumer grade hardware. Unless you are doing CAD or some other graphics or video editing, there is no reason for a dGPU (and the A400 wouldn't cut it anyway); Think about all the customer service reps who are using Xeon workstations with a crappy, overpriced A400. @@JMartinni Software readings are not accurate? For real? I didn't know. @lennard9331

It should be noted that the A400 actually has fewer true shading units. With Ampre, Nvidia decided that dual pump FP32 units effectively doubled its number of shaders per SM, whereas it's more like SMT for GPUs, so the actual number of physical shaders in both Ampere and Ada cards is half what Nvidia claims it is, at least by old definition and with regards to how AMD counts shaders. So, the 6400 actually has twice as many actual physical shaders, which explains the performance delta.

The intel A310/380 is a good choice too if you need a 1-2 slot streaming card. But yeah, the A400 works well too if you don't care about AV1 encoding.

To be honest, i would like to see the Intel A380 in this as well, It seems like in terms of price it would be the winner.

I can't get over how expensive card like the RX6400 still are. Its nuts for what you end up getting, though for a SFF build I suppose its okay.

These cards can make any modern game look like GTA 5 😂 Nonetheless it's nice seeing the capabilities of these low power options. 👍🏻👍🏻 They are pretty impressive

i was thinking that rx6400 is a good one, but then compared it to rx780m and 780m is almost the same while being integrated, rx890m was giving more performance at 15w. proves that the new handhelds are very good people hate them for no reason

I recently got an RTX 3050 6GB in LP form for 140. It's much better for gaming than the A400 and slightly cheaper (local market dependable).

I wanna mention that there are no game ready drivers for the A400. Meaning there are no game optimizations available to this card. While I doubt anyone is thinking about buying this card, it is probably worth mentioning.

How come nobody ever talks about the complete waste of money involved in corporations consistently overpaying for these crappy GPUs? As consumers, we all have to pay for the waste involved in putting billions of dollars per year into overpriced enterprise hardware when consumer grade hardware would suffice for 90% of the world's workstations. I didn't think any current production GPU could make an RX6400 look good.

Why people buy these ultra low end GPUs: ◽They may be misinformed about how GPUs work and just go for the cheapest. ◽They may not even have the money to buy a good value mid-range card especially considering current market. ◽They may not have knowledge about used market or are simply not comfortable buying used. ◽They may not be in a region where used market prices are cheap enough to justify. ◽They may have a 5 year old office PC that's uses a propriety 250W power supply and the cheapest low profile GTX1650 costs more then the PC itself. ◽They may be building a low end SFF PC. ◽They may literally just want a display adapter and may play some games here and there. Or it maybe a combination of points mentioned above. That's all there is to it, I just felt the need to write this down here because many people who will never ever buy these low-profile cards just hate on them for reasons I will never be able to understand.

Nice comparison. As a workstation card the A400 is a fine choice. If I were still in the corporate IT world I'd probably be installing them in CAD/CAM workstations these days. For work like that they're an excellent low power choice to drive 4 4-5K displays. It's part of the reason why for Nvidia the workstation & server revenue is 8-10x as high as the revenue all the gaming cards put together generate.

@Choralone422 It's a poor choice for workstations at the current price. Also, these are not in any way responsible for Nvidia's workstation & server revenue. The margins and volume on these scrap silicon parts are several orders of magnitude smaller than where the real revenue comes from in those segments.

I had an RX6400 in a old pre build (ACER SFF) - it eventually died though after I used AMD Fluid Motion repeatedly - this auto overclocks it and it overheated and the fan broke on it. I imported from US so warrantee didn't apply. Was good whilst it lasted though and played almost everything fairly well. Just don't overclock it!

I think a better opponent for the a400 would be like some Ryzen5 5000 integrated graphics
