NYC Norton Seeley G50
Island Classic P4 Open Race
Phillip Island GP Circuit, Phillip Island, Australia, Feb 1, 2014
This is onboard video of the Island Classic P4 Open race on Saturday, February 1, 2014, taken from my Seeley G50 500cc racer, which was up against an open class (1000cc+) of bikes. This was my bump class, my main class being P4 500 which was to be held later this day. In the open class I did my best to hold my own against the big bikes, and had some big fun. I had qualified somewhere around 16th out of 40 and ended up 12th in the end. But, I wouldn't be telling the truth here if I didn't admit there were some REALLY fast bikes, including some blistering fast 500s in this class, some beautiful 1007 Commandos and CR750 Hondas are here too. I had some good dices, most notable a good dust up with fellow American Brian Filo as he was riding his badass Yamaha XS750 (yellow bike) at about the 7:00 minute mark. I managed to get back around him but just about got squeezed off the track in the process, where I lost a lot of time. I almost caught back up to the front group again but just didn't have the goods.
Unfortunately I had a mechanical failure in the next race, which was my P4 500 class that I'd qualified 6th in, so my weekend was done.
I will be back.
