The Carl Schurz Park is a beautiful park in NYC that not many people know about.
It is located on the upper east side of Manhattan right next to the East River.
Dog-lovers love or will love that park as it is very dog-friendly park with 2 dog runs. There is also a playground for kids, a sports court as well as areas for picnicking, jogging, bike riding, relaxing or sunbathing during the warm weather months or riding your. There are also rest rooms at two different locations in the park.
During the summer months there are plays stage in the park and they are free to the public.
Along the East River Esplanade you will get views of the Robert F. Kennedy Bridge (Triborough Bridge), Randall and Wards Islands, the 59th Street Bridge & Roosevelt Island - you do get a great view of the Lighthouse on Roosevelt Island.
Located Inside Peter Pan Circle is a statue of Peter Pan; that statue was stolen in 1998 but was soon recovered at the bottom of the East River the next day and returned to the park.
At the north section of the Park is Gracie Mansion witch is the official residence of the Mayor of the City of New York. Gracie mansion is open once a week for tours to the public.
