We concluded the trip on Day 5 where the mission was to support 100 teen mums and young mums. We had a chat with Monica Thumbi, Director of Gender, Youth, Sports and Social Sevices of Nyeri County who led the mobilisation and mapping of all the areas visited in this drive. She shared insights about the county and her view of the drive which ensured girls received a period dignity kit that includes reusable pads (2-year use), underwear, soap, detergent and a waterproof bag.
This #heels4pads drive was in conjunction with K. Rashard's organisation Time To Love Ministry and we also received amazing support from:
Department of Gender, Youth, Sports and Social Services in Nyeri County - Who helped us with mobilisation and mapping.
Apollo Tours and Travel Ltd - provided us with travel logistic support.
Unilever Kenya's brands: Omo & Sunlight - provided us with soap
Aguko Foundation - provided financial support and facilitated puberty awareness talks to boys in Mukurwe-ini and Tetu.
Hervester Collective Investment LLP - provided financial support.
Komfort Pads ads - supported girls from Tetu area with 6 months' worth of disposal pads.
Akili Unchained - Donated menstrual hygiene awareness books to guidance and counselling teachers in 3 schools in Tetu area and supported the teen mums with flour.
We also appreciate the public donations we received from Kenya, the US and the UK all collectively helped us in fulfilling our mission of supporting 2,000 girls in Nyeri County.
