I think it's the same as renting an apartment or leasing a car. I want this but don't feel comfortable committing to buying yet. But also specifically with this one you have a lot of extra money you're ok burning? OR you just want to be able to continually upgrade without the need to keep buying/selling. Just simplifies it for rich people.

When he mentions the upgrades in this video, the information that is shown covers a couple of different points. The $100 upgrade cost would be if you were renting a Player One rig and wanted to get a Player Two rig or Player Two and move to Player Three. But they specifically state that as a subscriber you'll get regular "refresh" upgrades. That means that if you are still renting that rig off them a year or two down the road, they'll upgrade the PC to whatever the new specs are for that class of PC you're renting. So when the Player Two rig is using a newer 5000 series card and you've got last years model, you'll get the updated rig as long as you're still subscribing. That is how I interpret the information shown. Just wanted to throw that out there. 😀

I would say if I were to do this, it would be to get a PC quickly while I save up money for a gaming PC. It would then likely be a scenario where my current PC fails and I need to get up and running. I just did a major upgrade last year for the CPU/MOBO/PSU and this year I will upgrade the GPU since my current one is 4 years old. If something were to happen and I lose the PC I might do this for a few months while I save money to buy one outright.

But have been wanting to get in on building my own PC and start streaming (which would be new to me). So for me I think it would be a great opportunity for someone new to the PC world. But only for a few months, like trying it out for 3 months to see if I like PC gaming/streaming while saving up. Then returning it after 3 months to build my own. While renting it, gives me time to learn the in and outs of PC gaming/building and streaming, with having warranty and a little bit of help...
