Hi Eric, I am one of the members for the York-Durham Heritage Railway. I was in the real 3612 last weekend and started up the locomotive for the first time this year. She is still going strong!

Eric, That RS-11 has a cool looking paint scheme. I am just getting started in O scale and I bought a my first command engine which is a Lionel Up 4979 sd70mac, but I don’t have the legacy system yet I run it conventional.

You hit it right on the screws! I couldn't agree with you more. Those colors are unique and this could be a sleeper among later day collectibles. I'm getting one this year for that reason. Blessings, Henry.

The catalog illustration does indeed look darker and greener than your teal example. Funny you should mention weathering it to change its colour because that was exactly what I was thinking when Isaw it. If you decide to try that, Eric, I hope you'll do a video on the process -- washes, dry-brushing, pastels. It should be instructive. Cheers!

Eric, I have the SCL version of this locomotive. Unfortunately, I had to pull the RCMC board and send back to lionel for reflashing. The reason for this was because it would intermittently lose its program ID # that I would assign it. A friend of mine had the same issue so I sent mine and his board back to lionel at the same time. Once they were reflashed, I had no more problems. Not saying this locomotive will do that, but if it does then there’s the problem. When I purchased mine, it was still under warranty so the reflashing was at no cost.

Beautiful locomotive!! It’s different, and that’s what makes it very unique. Now you need to add some Rutland Railroad, Concord and Claremont Railroad rolling stock along with your Bangor and Aroostook, and other New England rolling stock.

Cool locomotive but I would have been pissed had I ordered this and opened the box to find a teal blue engine. I don’t understand how Lionel gets the colors so wrong. I recently bought the Lionel Rio Grande ski train passenger cars to run with some MTH engines I have and the color is so off I had to order the matching Lionel engines, which I hate, because I figure they will be the only thing to match the passenger cars I got. I can’t see me ordering anything but black steam locomotives from Lionel in the future.

The color of these definitely bothers me, being a native to CV territory and fond of their colors. But I'm generally not in the market for contemporary Lionel products, and stick to 'old school' conventional stuff. So at the end of the day I can forgive Lionel for getting it wrong. I think I'll go the route of repainting an MPC era piece to get some CV power on my roster.

Looks more like teal or aquamarine or some other blue-green color. I can't tell it's green looking at it. It looks more blue to me. Could just be the lighting and video quality combined with editing. It's high-hood, not high-nose.

The green color that you show of the CV Deisle, if I remember correctly, that is John deer green and yellow, maybe the reason why lionle did it in a different color's is, I think that maybe John deer did not want lionle using there color's on it and it is only ment for John deer stuff
