Three years ago, Ukraine launched the Economic Security Bureau. It was meant to investigate economic crimes and ensure that businesses weren't pressured by law enforcement.
However, it quickly fell into the same pitfalls as its predecessors in the Tax Service, largely due to retaining the same old tax officials, including its former head from the tax police.
Now, calls for reform are mounting, driven by our Western partners who seek to not just sustain the Bureau's existence but ensure its effectiveness.
