May 13th (Travel Day):
We flew out early to Hawaii, with a layover in Las Vegas. Upon arriving in Oahu, we picked up our rental and checked into the Marriott Ko’Olina. After some indecision, we had dinner at Chili’s and after some indigestion we settled in for our first night on the island.
May 14th (Exploring Oahu’s North Shore):
Visited the Dole Plantation for pineapple treats, then explored Hale’iwa and Laniakea Beach, where we saw sea turtles. A rainy but gorgeous hike through Waimea Valley led to a waterfall, and we finished the day with garlic shrimp at Ted’s Bakery before heading back to the hotel.
May 15th (Waikiki & Exploring Honolulu):
Started with the Aloha Bowl swap meet, followed by lunch at The Cheesecake Factory in Waikiki. We walked along the beach and later swam at the resort's lagoon, capping the day with an amazing sunset.
May 16th (Polynesian Cultural Center):
A rainy drive through Oahu’s mountains took us to the temple, BYU Hawaii, and the Polynesian Cultural Center. We mostly explored Tonga and enjoyed a buffet before a lively show, making for another memorable rainy day.
May 17th (Pearl Harbor & Departure):
On our final day, we drove the scenic Liki Liki Highway, visited Nu’uanu Pali Lookout and the Punchbowl Cemetery, then toured the Pearl Harbor Memorial. Afterward, we headed to the airport for our flight home.
