I think someone likes that Stihl!😂 Watching this makes my lower back hurt. I just cut up a huge cottonwood today, and now I can barely lean over to tie my shoes.

Fun video, at first I was.. speechless. Then realized it is YOU and the gag factor is part of the show. Gravity. An amazing thing. My bet is you are going to LOVE that little saw. And it seems to be running pretty well. It will only get better. So to one of your messages. Certainly welcome up here while the weather holds. Also I have a 160 acre spot in Alabama. Maybe a GTG to clear cut some stuff in the future?

I have my Echo chainsaws I just picked up the Echo CS 620 p that runs a 20 and 24 inch bars just fine. My echo cs7310 ft I run 24 and 28 inch bar on that. My cs800 g 28, 32 and 36 inch bars. My new ms400 c I have a 20-in bar and a 24 inch bar for it. I also have a 16 inch bar I may try that. It's all a bunch of fun. Keep up the great videos.

I was thinking that i had made a mistake, purchasing the 400. until i had ran close to eight or ten tanks through it, I hope yours opens up more like mine did. After I decided to keep the saw I opened the exhaust up and it also made a huge difference, Good luck!

I think it will improve. Might have to get 10-12 tanks through? Quality metal and modern oil will be a little slower to break in. At least that is what I found with a MS-261

When cutting stumps if not using a wedge it much easier to do a snap cut where you cut in from one side and cut almost all the wall through and then go just above that cut on the opposite side and cut in and you can break it off by hand and it doesnt pinch your bar
@modarkthemauler
Жыл бұрын
You can also keep the tip around the center and cut with the top of the bar so sawdust is pushed in the cut. The sawdust keeps the block floating and it won't pinch.

Does it really seem like that has 67 cc's or do you think it's really going to open up that much more more towards breaking
@novicelumberjack

Oldcodger in the comments nailed it. It runs like a ported 67cc saw that had the exhaust roof raised too high. Great for a small bar with reasonable rakers. Runs fast and hot, but is easily halted. If it never gains an ounce of power over what it has right now, I need to adjust my styles if I want to enjoy this saw for what it is. I'll need higher rakers than what it currently has and this 20" bar. But...it will be ported and modified.

Thanks Serdei. Things come off differently on camera for sure. Athletes make jumping hurdles look easy, race cars often look kinda slow, and chainsaws look week. Nothing replaces having the saw in your hand. If you ran it, you would know...even unbroken in, this 400 would MURDER an 029. I want it to be more than it is...but it is still a lot.

Maybe it’s just me, I don’t get the attraction to this saw. For the money, it is absolutely the last choice out there. It is not a super saw, it’s just a saw. What are you going to do when it is “broken in” and it doesn’t run any different? I run Huskies, and stihls so it’s not a brand thing, just my 2 cents.

I personally got it for two reasons, 1. The channel. I new it would get views 2. Curiosity. I genuinely thought it was the coolest offering from Stihl. I still think that. But that's it. So far, I really love using it, but I'm not quite sure why.
@MrJeepfreak1972

@@novicelumberjack I think you have inadvertently stumbled onto something.... You obviously like how it feels despite you having faster saws. Outside of this small saw nerd bubble we all live in, speed of one saw over another isn't even on the radar unless one is tremendously slower / weaker. Its about how they feel, weight, dealer support ect. A guy cutting wood to heat with wants a reliable saw he can live with. 1-4 seconds in a cut matters zero. In fact, most fire wood cutters I know, outside of the bubble, have never touched a pro saw and never will.
