Episode 194 - Part 1 Oak coffee table with black transparent epoxy resin, priming and potting canyons / Oak coffee table with black transparent epoxy resin, priming and pouring canyons
We are starting another project from epoxy resin. Oak coffee table with a canyon made of transparent black epoxy. Of course, we start work by choosing the right piece of material for the table. I cut off a selected fragment with a manual circular saw. the two halves differ in thickness, so I have to align it on the k690s format saw and pass the Ad741 felt planer. I clean the cracks with a steel brush and remove dust. The cracks that will connect the canyon are primed with a fast setting epoxy resin. I make the potting mold out of foil and press it all with wolfcraft clamps onto the fat300 sliding table. Fill the upper sides of the canyon with silicone so that you can add more resin. I am mixing slowly gelling epoxy resin and adding black dye. I mix everything in buckets. I pour resin into the canyon with allowance and wait for the air to come out. I remove air bubbles with a heat gun.
