And i dont know why people cant wrap there head (edit: someone pointed out i said that wrong. I meant “Their Heads”. Thanks) around it. To me the way it always worked was that the force is a spiritual force that resides within every single thing but only beings with a high enough m count are able to tap into it as the mediclorians are microorganisms able to tap into the spiritual force. I like the idea as it makes it that not everyone can simply use the force. While the force is in everyone, it isnt something just anyone can manipulate. I guess disney forgot about that cause now just about anyone can use the force. I am not a fan of them giving Sabine force abilities when we spent a whole ark in Rebels where she learns how to use her mandalorian gear to help combat against force wielders cause she can’t use the force

Just to clarify how they actually function: the force is and always was a spiritual thing. Midichlorians have been a thing since the first star wars movie as there are notes from George talking about the specifics of the force and he brings up midichlorians. The force is a spiritual thing that exists in and around everything. Midichlorians are microscopic organisms that allow beings to be able to use the force. Everyone has midichlorians but only beings with a high enough count are able to fully use the force. With some beings with lesser count either not be able to harness it or only use it for small things such as Chirrut Îmwe in Rogue one who can’t manipulate it to pull or push things but uses it to help him be able to see or feel things around him like a spidey sense. And even if you do have a high count of midichlorians that doesnt mean you instantly are stronger. Just like everything else you have to train to master your abilities. And simply having the force isnt the end all be all. As shown in the prequel films and clone wars, Anakin has the highest midichlorian count but still has been beaten in duels against other skilled and trained force user or duelist. Dooku being one of them as he was one of the best saber duelists ever and he beat Anakin a good amount of times before Anakin trained hard enough to surpass Dooku in both skill and strength. Another one for Anakin. Obiwan. Obiwan as even said here has a much lower count than Anakin but when they fought each other Obiwan was the victor since Anakin let his emotions cloud him and Obiwan, even though it broke his heart to fight his brother, was better trained in controlling himself that he was able to win

the force has a grand plan, the jedi who listen to the force act as nodes to do the force's will. sometimes that will is to get blown up because the force doesn't need you anymore. the Sith reject the will of the force and use their own willpower to exert their own influence on it. This leads to the 2 different "religious" philosophies of the force. the jedi strive to become one with the force, and bring balance and calm to its will. the Sith seek to become the singular point of focus of the force and do so by force of will. Using the "dark side" of the force causes the force's will to become distorted and harder for the jedi to commune with, generations of Sith focused the dark side on to cloud the jedi's judgement and abilities. by the time of the phantom menace, the galactic center was so distorted that the jedi could only barely make out the will of the force, and were forced to make judgements based on their own morals and teachings. during this period the jedi became more dogmatic, relying on the code more for guidance and become more political as to deal with issues they would normally have help from the force to solve.

I've never minded Midichlorians. People say it destroys the mysticism of the force, and I agree, but honestly I like that. The one complaint I don't agree with is that they're a DBZ-style Power Level, where having the highest number automatically makes you the strongest; the "midichlorian count" thing isn't an active power level, it's a measure of natural potential. I've been doing martial arts for a few decades now, and taught my own classes for about 6 years in there. I think any martial artist would tell you that some people just "have it". They take to things immediately, like they were born for it. And any martial artist would tell you that if you don't have the drive to make good on that potential, it means nothing. I've seen the most gifted students just stay "good", while other students who train through a struggle---even if it takes them longer to master something---pass them by and become amazing. When I hear the midichlorian thing, I just go back to that. Potential doesn't make you great. Wanting to be great, and being truly willing to make that happen, makes you great.

If GEORGE didn't tell his peers NO, then the crap Luke scenes with his friends in Toshi Station would have been kept in, courtesy of Marcia Lucas, and Luke would have been turned to the Dark Side, ending with Luke taking and wearing Vader's helmet, declaring himself Darth Vader, courtesy of the Ep6 director. I never understood why people were confused about midichlorians and thought they ruined the force. The midichlorians are not the force itself, they don't create it either, they only allow living beings to channel it through themselves. The OT says that the force is in all living things, the PT says all life forms have midichlorians. The OT says the force is strong in the Skywalker family, the PT says Anakin has great force potential and that this potential is hereditary through the midichlorians. Midichlorians don't retcon anything from the OT and it doesn't even demystify the force in any way, it only explains how people can use it and why some people have more potential in it than others.
@Moody-Boy

I mean, it does demystify it. The fun space magic in A New Hope is established to be a matter of faith. Strength in wielding said space magic was ostensibly determined by one's belief. 'The force is strong in the Skywalker family' can just as easily be read as 'You come from a pious family' The Prequels muddy the water by making it a matter of genetics first and foremost. You still need training and an open mind and all that, but the lore as established by Prequel material is training and faith can only get you so far, and that some beings are simply inherently more powerful than others by default. The Prequels' contribution to the Force(tm) is super boring and has lead us to where we are now with actual family dynasties in the Skywalker's & Palpatine's and that only people with the right blood are worthy. It's lame. Besides, the obvious canon explanation is that midichlorians are some weird alternative medicine science Qui-Gon cooked up, won't shut up about, and got kicked off the Council for. Anakin is really just a pawn in the fight against Big Pharma
@FierceDIO

@@username1660 that's Disney's fault that bloodlines became the focus not the PT. Also only Luke and Leia are the only ones said to be strong with the force in the OT, it was always genetic, you didn't see Obi-Wan specifically chose Luke for his force potential. One's ability to use the force is still tied to training and faith, what Yoda explained to Luke didn't suddenly become untrue because of midichlorians. Plus the nature of the force is still not explained, it's still an omnipresent magical field, the only thing that's changed is now there is an explanation for why people can use the force and why some people are just better at it than others, which I must reiterate was always a thing don't pretend like everyone in the OT was equally force sensitive because they simply were not.
@username1660

@@FierceDIO Right, dynasties were a product of the Mouse's acquisition. I must've imagined Luke's kid and the Solo Twins of the old EU, but I digress. A genetic determinant to faith is just simply dumb and unneeded. It adds nothing except imposing *_restrictions_* on future stories. I'm not denying there's different power levels in the Original Trilogy. I just think it's more interesting that those levels are determined by the human spirit and conviction rather than winning the genetic lottery. Look dude, you're not gonna change my mind and I don't really care about changing yours. Midichlorians are dumb and fundamentally change how power is channeled, and by whom, in this universe Disney never had a plan for their trilogy, but I'll give them credit for taking ol' Georgie's original intent and axing out the part with the Osmosis Jones-esque exploration of how the Space Mitochondria worked.
@DeltaFidelias
5 ай бұрын
@@FierceDIO Actually, it wasn't genetic until the prequels. In the original trilogy, Luke was strong in the force as a matter of luck. Vader was SURPRISED by how strong Luke was with the Force, even after knowing that Luke was his own son. If genetics were always a factor, than Vader wouldn't have been caught off guard, he would've assumed that Luke would have a strong connection to the Force as a matter of scientific fact. Also, even if the Midichlorians make sense in a world-building sense, it doesn't make sense how the prequel Jedi would view Midichlorians. Even if it were true, a deeply religious sect of warrior monks would never acknowledge that what is fueling the core of their ethos is science based, instead of belief based. It would completely ruin the Jedi's structure and hierarchy if it became common knowledge to their members that your ability with the Force was a fixed number that couldn't be improved no matter how closely or loosely you adhere to the Jedi beliefs.

Honestly, I don’t have an issue with midichloreans existing but using them as some power level is dumb. Giving baby Vader the “OVER 9000!” treatment was stupid… if they just left it at a confirmation of whether or not you can access the force, I’m sure it would be much better received. Or maybe even have Anakin have mutated midichloreans or something more unique since he was “made by the force” but just having more seems dumb and like it opens so many loopholes. Couldn’t you just blood dope more? Wouldn’t Jedi or Sith start breeding for more and more until the power becomes UNLIMITED! Having a number that determines power just opens too many possibilities and questions but saying Anakin had a unique mutation, that makes him actually different in some tangible way. Honestly though, I wish he wasn’t special in any way. No prophecy or power… just a kid who had so much pain and rage as he grew up that his willpower wouldn’t let him die. The only thing special about him was his own willpower and self made power. But they had to make him some Neo Potter messiah with a power level over 9000 as if he wasn’t already cool enough.

I always thought midichlorians were a micro organism attracted to the cells of individuals based on their latent abilities, but not representative of their overall potential in the use of the force. The midichlorians are a part of the living force that is inside living beings but they aren't the force they just happen to help normal beings access it but its why someone with a lower midichlorian count can still be much stronger than someone with a higher one and its also why the force can affect non-living things because thats the cosmic force that the midichlorians cant physically be a part of and its why beings who dont rely on the living force are so much stronger

The force is still magic. Midichlorians are tiny things that help help force sensitive people access the magic. The Force is still very much mystical. I don't know why people misunderstand this so often. Qui Gon literally says it "without midichlorians, we would have no knowledge of the force", instead of "without midichlorians, we would have no force", which clearly shows that midichlorians and the force are two related but separate things.

To go even further than that, look at the Tragedy of Darth Plagueis the Wise that says they are different in no uncertain terms. "Darth Plagueis was a dark lord of the Sith so powerful and so wise that he could USE THE FORCE TO INFLUENCE THE MIDICHLORIANS..." They are different things with different properties but are connected.

I just talked with a friend who is a big nerd. According to them while it's a way to measure the ability of a force user, they aren't like directly related to the force or something. I think there's a reason this idea doesn't get brought up very much any more. It's stupid.

Also what the hell is the difference between midichlorians "sciencing" The Force and the mother trucker "x-gene" or whatever its called that causes mutants to have powers in X-Men? 😲Do midichlorians make it impossible for people to PRETEND to have Force Powers? I don't really see the problem with this, it's the equivalent of finding out everything is made out of energy, there ARE higher powers within Star Wars that have affect on how the Force works and are themselves representations of The Force in various forms. The Bendu, The Father, The Son, The Daughter, The Whills, Anakin Skywalker himself, Abeloth, etc.

Well. Um AKSHUALLY there IS the magical force known as the Cosmic Force, the midichlorians are known as the Living Force; The Living Force as such is both a connective connective branches between Spaient mind and the Cosmic Force AND also a parallel/reflection to it as the Cosmic Force grows in accordance when more life connects to it.

After seeing what force is in the Zelda series(taking the form of life force and energy manifested from positive emotions and desires and gives birth to kami(gods/spirits, the Triforce is called the Master force and the true force and likely manifested from the creation gods' emotions, desires and thoughts) with the opposite being evil energy manifested from negative emotions and desires and gives birth to demons, it's basically chi and the reason why some characters are more powerful than others because they've manifested from themselves or gotten energy from something) I think that Star wars borrows the ideas for the force and midichlorians from Asian religions, cultures and folklore much like how the Jedi are kind of like samurai.

The prophecy? That's magic right? No Obi-wan, we have an advanced super-computer in the centre of the Jedi Temple that took all the data of the galaxy as it was and extrapolated that to make a prediction many years ago. It's output is somewhat vague, intermittent and incomplete due to all the variables it has to consider, but I assure it is no magic.

The Force is spiritual and physical, if a person really is tied to their M-count then people like Maul and Vader would have been severely hindered and why does the count only go up to 20 thousand if humans can have up to trillions of cells and yet they can only read up to a thousand? The Force can empower the body, the mind and the spirit. It can warp space, time, life and death.
