I adored this. Holy God, dude, unironically, I was glued to the screen - this isn't even the type of song I would normally enjoy, but this edit was so good I didn't lose interest! And the lyrics suit this vid's approach towards DMC, too, so kudos. I loved how thoughtful your scene choices were - you selected both shots that were homages to each other and shots that had cinematic parallels and knitted them together, so the transitions were wonderfully smooth. I really like the subtle masking work you did (like at 0:33, 1:23, and 2:00, among many examples!), it drew attention to the weapons and (again!) the cinematic parallels between the shots where Dante and Vergil wield the Rebellion and the Yamato, respectively. The way you actually highlight aspects of their character arcs through the edit is also commendable, like how Nero is always reaching out to protect what he loves with his demonic gifts (Kyrie, Dante, and Vergil - "faster, faster, faster" just fits so well, especially with the themes in Devil Trigger), Vergil pulling away from his humanity while desperately holding onto what defined his childhood (Vergil falling away from Dante but holding the amulet, casting out V but grasping the Blake tome - "take ahold of the darkness within you", "get up", "what are you so afraid of?" are all perfect references to Vergil's inner conflict plus Dante's own lines in DMC3, and even Bury the Light despite the song releasing after this video was made), Dante being caught in between what he feels for his family, his duty, and his own heritage but learning to appreciate what he has ("friend... or enemy?" - the cut glove, the pensive shots of Dante in his office, Dante facing off Vergil and his happiness in DMC5 vs. his anger in DMC3). All of it, even if not wholly intentional, is just great. The only major criticism I can think of is that the iconic Nero DT intervention shot atop the Qliphoth may have been better placed when the song hit its chorus climax - if that shot was built up to, it would have emphasised the significance of that moment and tied the three respective arcs in this video together, since all of them appear in that shot and make history for the Spardan legacy with the reconciliation that ensues from said intervention. Overall, I loved it. Forgive me this word wall, I am a dingus that likes to write and annotate and overanalyse - especially as a fan of DMC - but I just had to express my appreciation for this work. You get a sub from me, thank you for this upload.
