Most comfortable backpacking shoes I own. They are my go to shoe. I have found that the sole does wear faster than described in this video, however that is a worthwhile trade off for the comfort and protection these shoes provide.

Just got a pair ‘like new’ at a Goodwill outlet for $4.04 and had to check YT for some info. I could tell they were quality shoes as soon as I picked up one of them. Thanks for the review!

Wow! That is a steal. They should last quite a while.

Awesome, thank you. I am also heading to Italy and was looking at all kinds of shoes, including Rossignol SKPR, but have never tried them. I will check these out!

Got the new version of these (no review on youtube at this point) - oboz sawtooth x low. They are on the heavier side. But interestingly I ended up choosing them for comfort. They do hug your foot really well, are very nice around the ankle area, good feel under the foot. Good shock absorption. Wish they were lighter. But the comfort and structure are much better than many light hiking shoes I tried on. And in my case, when I hike, I like to have this kind of support. X version looks better in my opinion, less aggressive (although some may like the older look).

Very informative review, appreciate you going into detail about each features and your personal opinion. I have a pr. of original sawtooth and do like them, but unless conditions are pretty rugged, I really enjoy my Topo Terraventures, (although I don't get nearly the mileage or wear as the Oboz).

I bought the Arete Low’s for some additional weight savings. So far so good. Very supportive and durable, love the insoles! Not quite as comfy as the MQM’s but better than average. Also my first pair of Oboz but not my last.

I also have them they are so sturdy and well made. A bit heavy but that's alright you are after all going hiking so yeah you want something solid. They have very good soles which for me is a +, as for the insole I think it is really personal to the hiker, some people want more comfortable thicker insole, I thought the one in the shoe were alright but I am not against trying some if I need to, I love them.

One of my favorite shoes, also one of the most durable shoes I have ever purchased. I highly recommend.

After reading many reviews and watching KZitem reviews I think this is my hiking shoe. Don't plan on running. I recently got Chaco sandals and thought that i could carry them in a back pack and switch if I need to in water or at the end of my hike to cool my feet. Up in years now I'm just looking for easy trails having fun and staying fit.

They are my favorite shoe, and the most durable of shoes I've worn recently which includes Merrell, Salomon and North Face.

Great review. Does the gunmetal color look more like a baby blue in person? I see it appears more blue-ish in your video. Just wondering....

I don’t see blue in it. It looks mostly gray.

I live in the uk and through the winter i mostly wear Merrells which have been great but decided to have a change,my question is as the uk is mostly wet would you recommend these or the gortex versions. Thanks.

For everyday use in drizzly conditions I like Gore-tex. I grew up in the Pacific Northwest and drizzle was a constant feature. My feet were often wet and Goretex would have been great growing up.

I believe all oboz run a little narrow. They feel snug as you described but for people with wider feet, they may not be as comfortable

@@Dusty_Hikers oh yeah. I got my new sawtooth at an outfitter store yesterday. Every person there was either drooling over the ultras or talking about how their friend says it’s amazing. I tried both and the Oboz seemed more durable. And I love how the box, the wrapping paper and the shoe underside has the topo map of the mountain. Seems like they take a lot of pride in their work.

I have wide, EE feet. A lot of European boots just don't work for me. Vasque and La Sportiva never seem to fit. I have a pair of Asolo Neutrons in their wide sizing that are great for heavy backpacking. Otherwise, the Sawtooth is my go to. I have the mid and the low and love both, it just depends on if there's snow or not as to which I go with.

I agree. EEE wide shoes for me typically best since childhood and these fit me great. Excellent shoe for daily wear on my feet for the past 5 years or so.

Love the Oboz tight heel and looser toe box. Side lugs look terrible. Great insole. Shoes kind of look dated. They have a full grain leather high top version that has a Vibram sole. Wish I would have bought them when they were available in my size.

Thanks for sharing! I agree the side lugs seem like a gimmick but I really like the way the shoe feels on my feet while walking.

the side lug is the built in dependable flaw they put in the shoe that will effectually fall apart! basically all looks no added benefit other than making you buy more shoes!
