The bread method of removing the pilot bearing works great, but higher Mileage engines that may have excess crank shaft end play and worn Main bearings. All that banging can seriously knock stuff loose.

Because you had the flywheel machined you should have put spacers behind the slave cylinder. You are running out of throw to appropriately depress the clutch fingers which may lead to slave cylinder overextending and bursting.

I noticed my old slave cylinder has a notch in it in which a clip was removed to disconnect the hose. The new slave cylinder does not have that notch, but has some sort of teeth inside which seems to grip the hose instead of a clip. Is this common and aftermarket parts or should I find a slave cylinder with the original clip? Thanks

Did you have to bleed the slave cylinder? Or how do you bleed an internal slave cylinder?
@matthew1er
3 жыл бұрын
Slave cylinder has no fluid in it so it doesn't need to be bled. But the master cylinder will need to be bled if you just buy the master cylinder by itself but I bought it as a complete set with master cylinder and lines all attached and it was pre bled so literally just have to get it from the store and hook it up no bleeding necessary.

@@matthew1er Hey you got it done but I got concerned when you used a hammer directly on the bearing. Use a socket instead of a bolt. How is the truck running? Thing about this is people exchanging ideas and you showing how you did yours. The jack stand thing scared the crap out of me too. I know you had multiple points of contact, but I lost a nephew to a vehicle falling off jack stands. You should add an extreme risk warning to that. Be careful out there.

Never put an input bearing in these. The NV3500 and nv4500 transmissions Achilles heel is if the input shaft is left unsupported when the input bearing goes out it'll shake the transmission apart. Put the old style bronze bushing in there and you never have this problem!!
