Lefend of dragoon was good, started playing it with friends we each took 1 char in the fight, but im terrible at rythem stuff so i took shana. they stopped playing before the final boss so i never did beat it and dont own it. Unfortunately Grandia 1 hd remaster has so many issues with graphics being worse than on saturn as it used inferior PS1 copy of the game, i encountered a bug of game randomly crashing when entering/exiting towns as that is when game changes resolution between town map and world map which can cause a crash as PC games do not like resolution changes in that manner. I still managed to 100% the game with all them issues but I really wished they had not overpromised and under delivered with the HD remaster.

I loved the Growlanser (I pronounce it Grow-lanser) series. The only things I didn’t like/care for was the anti-war message (I’m not pro-war/warmonger, I just prefer straight forward Good vs. Evil stories. I also feel those who want to do anti-war stories tend to lose sight of reality) and the leveling system (the game was Produced by Atlus, makers of the Persona series). One of the things I liked about the series is the relationship between the player/main characters and the characters around them. Through out games, you’ll have moments where you can interact with certain characters and improve the why they think about you, which can have a small impact on the ending. Think Sakura Wars, but with Males(platonic) as well as Females(romantic).

I also happened upon Growlanser Generations, and it is still in my top 10 all time JRPGs. Growlanser 2 my be short, but it has several possible endings (one of which takes the story down an entirely different arc) which gives a ton of replayability. I think I played through it at least 5 times. Resonance of Fate is all kinds of fun... at first. But the combat never evolves. It's exactly the same in the first battle as it is 30 hours in. That made the otherwise awesome and unique combat get stale really fast, so I never could finish it. With how much you like Strategy RPGs, if you haven't played it, you should definitely check out Brigandine on the PS1. It got totally overshadowed because it released at about the same time as FF7, but it's my all time favorite game. It's pretty lacking on story, but MORE than make up for it on the strategy side. Easiest way I can explain it is [Insert Franchise] Tactics meets Pokemon meets Risk. It has near endless replayability.

So many RPG games have many memories attached to them, the time need to complete can almost bookend parts of your life. Legend of Dragoon was mine and my late brothers favorite, I distinctly remember the celebration we would have when completing a disc, and how much of an ass that divine dragon was. I learned recently that BluePoint is working on the remake of LoD, its in good hands. Shining Soul 1 & 2 hold a special place in my heart too, I remember taking a three day train ride with only our phones to keep us preoccupied, so four of us got the MyBoy Emulator and used bluetooth to play four player Shining Soul 2, and also Four Swords of course. A terribly underrated gem in my book, is Lost Odyssey. An RPG with nothing fresh mechanics-wise, but the unique setting, the animated lore segments, and the art by Takehiko Inoue or Slam Dunk and Vagabond Fame made it a sight for sore eyes on the Xbox360. I remember christmas shopping and seeing it in a bargain bin for $6 at gamestop in 2008, I had lost my taste for RPGs at the time, but flicking it aside I noticed the weight that only a four-disc case could have. That alone was why I bought it. And that alone was what rekindled the RPG fan in me. It's a very emotional and weird at times kind of game. Its even ported to XBone, with no disc switching needed, and good graphics for a 15 year old game.

Whenever you can you should check out the digimon games like Anode / Cathode Tamer, Tag Tamers, D-1 Tamers and Brave Tamer. They Never left Japan also and they were made for the wonderswan console, but there are a lot of fan translations and ways to run the games in english.

I also never understood why everybody hated Grandia 3, It really was p good, eventho I never beat it yet It's like, if theres 1 person who says "lol this sucks" a bunch of people immediately follow that if they're the first person they heard about the game from

Nice to see Growlanser. Lucky news, GL6 has been translated and GL1 is being TLd. So other than the VN sequel, all the series will be available in english.

I tried soooooo many times to try and understand and get into “Resonance of Fate’s” battle system and just couldn’t. Loved everything else about it (characters, visuals, story). I soooo wish “Wachenroder” would get an English patch like “Shining Force III Scenario 2&3”! And while I love “Suikoden I & II”, “Suikoden V” will always be my favorite!

I'm surprised no SaGa games were mentioned, they're pretty underrated specifically at the West.

I'd like to see more of these videos in the future. And love the Xenogears music during the intro. It's one of my personal favorite JRPG's that, after playing it on an emulator, made me snatch the copy before the prices went up in an excessive pace. I do like Resonance of Fate. Weird but quite experimental combat system and it's one of the funnier JRPG's I've played.

Xenogears has the best story in any game I've ever played, and the music is Yasunori Mitsuda pretty much at his best (though Chrono Cross's OST was incredible too). Check out the Xenogears 20th Anniversary Concert if you haven't. It's just mesmerizing.

Well hey, I found your channel through this video, so I would absolutely love more obscure JRPG videos. I always love hearing about more than the usual Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest stuff.

Avalanche, you introduced me to STALKER. I own all three games and I absolutely love them. Thank you so much! STALKER was actually the game that got me into gaming in the first place. I guess you could say, you and STALKER got me into gaming. I have finished the first STALKER game and, if I can get the weekend off work, I will be starting the second game in the series. Again, thank you so much! You have provided me with tons of entertainment.

I legitimately thought I was the only human being ever, besides a couple of friends I've long since fell out of contact with, that played Shining Soul. I can absolutely confirm that the multiplayer is a great time. Really threw me back there - I know this video is going to be a banger. I really have to look for my old cartridge. Legend of Dragoon too? Did you look into my childhood? Love it man.
