This was taken at an alternative firing class I took at the Village Potters in Asheville, NC. Our amazing teacher, Judi Harwood, was so wonderful!
Obvara is a Raku technique in which you fire bisqued pots quickly (45 mins or so) up to 1600+- degrees, then remove them from the kiln and dunk them into a mixture of flour, water, sugar, yeast and a can of beer.
The results are pretty spectacular. None of the pieces are food safe, just decorative.
