Thanks so much Deb. I'm grateful that you provide these resources for the benefit of the rest of us. I find you're voice really connects with me, even though I'm male. Developing a practice for gratitude is really helping me. Maybe one day I can return the favour..

When a person hits rock bottom and has lost it all, we are told to start with an attitude of gratitude. This video is nice, but its for privileged people with jobs, homes, coworkers, paychecks. People with those things SHOULD be grateful. What I'm seeking is a video of things to be grateful for that are NOT tied to privilege and accomplishment.

+New World Rising--You mean "things" such as your incredible body with its 60,000 miles of blood vessels that could circumnavigate the earth two and a half times, or your eyes, which are so sensitive that if the earth was flat, you could spot a candle flickering at night from up to 30 miles away, Or that an adult is made up of 7,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 (7 octillion) atoms. For perspective, there's a 'measly' 300,000,000,000 (300 billion) stars in our galaxy. Your atomic system you call your body is amazing! Be amazed and grateful that it's the incredible machine it is! Your heart beats continually and keeps you alive and you NEVER have to think about it! Be amazed! Be grateful! Can you see or hear or walk or talk? There are many who don't have these wonderful faculties--do you?Be grateful! Helen Keller couldn't see, nor hear nor speak (at first) but went on to receive her BA and write books!, Be grateful if you don't have those obstacles! Do you have hands? I presume so, bc you typed a message. Be grateful that you can pick up a glass from which to drink. Or hold a baby. Or feel the wonderful sensation of a furry puppy or kitten through your fingertips and have that sensation bring you pleasure. Or, think about that incredible universe with its 300 billion beautiful stars--all the planets spin in their orbits perfectly. The sun provides warmth without which we would all die--or simply not exist. The earth keeps you on it by virtue of gravity--you never have to worry about falling off. The earth supplies us with water. Do you live in a home where there's running water? Be grateful for your water. MOST of the world has no running water, yet we turn a spigot, and badda bing! We can drink it in ready supply, shower in it and wash our clothes easily. Water even enables toilets (INSIDE our homes) to flush--an incredible advantage. Can you imagine if you had to use the bathroom outside all the time? Yuck. Be grateful! Do you have electricity? Be grateful! What an incredible force that's harnessed so we can see at night, use all sorts of electric appliances that make our lives so much easier--and use COMPUTERS! How incredibly wonderful are they? Wow! Be in awe! Be grateful! Go outside and just look up! The sky is beautiful. Be grateful! Can you see birds flying and how graceful and pretty they are? Be in awe! Then look out. What do you see? Any animals or bugs? Aren't they fun to watch? Look at flowers--all different, all beautiful. They bring joy. Be grateful. Most importantly, YOU ARE ALIVE! You make a difference! Be grateful! No matter whether for the good or bad, you touch the life of everyone with whom you have contact and you make a difference. Your interaction with others has a ripple effect. Be amazed about that! YOU make a difference bc you're in the world! Make it count! Be grateful for the opportunity to make a positive difference, and then make sure your interactions ARE positive, to the best of your ability. Be grateful for that opportunity! YOU COUNT! YOU MAKE A DIFFERENCE! Be grateful!
