6:30 The reasoning behind lubellion is to access the branded spell/traps. Regained aids you recovery from banishment while also looping back magnahmut to recover your bystials for a longer grind game vs. yubel/etc. While Etrude is used for its floodgate effect & ability to quick synchro without reliance of stand-up/woes. In the ocg specifically this strategy isnt super consistent because Lubellion is limited (same w/ all the other bystials barring saronir), but it is something I seen in centurion decks in the past. Also you can trudea/bystial into chaos angel which catches people off guard because they dont see tuners being used for that as well. The decks that usually would get hindered by this are mainly: voiceless/branded/yubel/fiendsmith engine for the most part. Thats the reasoning for it, hope this insight helps.

appreciate teh comment! im 100% locked in with the reasoning and played bystial centurion in previous formats myself. i more was asking how do they consistently access this with those ratios - but i guess you responded to that by saying its not consistent in the ocg, which i think makes it a strange choice

i usually play 3 sar 1 lubel. sar + 4 is pater, send for lubel, then you get pater back when they summon

For the first list all the Bystial except Saronir are at 1. 3 Chicken sounds crazy.

So the one thing I noticed at the na wcq was the hand trap differences between good and bad players. I haven't played much yugioh this year so I needed to do lcqs. Players in the lcq were all on droll and lockbird. On sunday playing the regional flights everyone who was playing in the main event was on nibiru plus veiler imperm and sometimes mourner to force it through. Also the decklist ive seen from the nawcq. Alot of those also played droll. The biggest difference I noticed was the "good players" all basically had nib and the bad players did not.

stardust being wind can sometimes help you maybe to diversify your almost exclusively light deck. maybe against some kind of locks or whatever

I'm not an ocg player and share almost all the critique you bring up but iv played enough MD to kinda understand the point of some type of deckbuilding especially the "build as if you go first" because with almost any normal deck if you go second and you have like maxx c ash, or even worse only maxx c, chances are the going first player has an answer for maxx c and can play handtrapped once and you need to play going second vs a full board or more because its pretty common to even have win more going first cards and you are handlooped so its basically an autoloss. Btw i dont agree on this and have a decent success going second with more balanced deck building because going first there is no need to win more as ygo is already imbalanced for going first especially vs decks that inherently are bad going second and with win more cards that do nothing going second

yep has been used in other decks for years, but not in wf specifically for some reason, despite nib being good right now

Any reason they're not playing the toybox stuff?

I personally don’t like playing the toy cards myself. I find they’re more high rolly and not really extenders to the strategy since they’re not tuners. Maxing out on standup and oath gives you that tuner extender if you get stoped. Also tales plus oath or standup is full combo which you see ~17% of the time in a 40 card deck maxing out on all of them.

playing a centurion strategy in its entirety rather than wf with the 3/4 card centurion package i guess is the difference
