• Step Out Of Self:
On the day of their baptism, Christians commit to stop living solely
for themselves and begin living for Jesus. Living for Jesus means
that all our life choices are made considering what pleases Jesus,
not ourselves. It means we begin to trust God and Christ more than
ourselves or the people around us. (Matthew 16: 24; Colossians 3: 9-
10; Proverbs 3: 5-6)
• Stepping Out of Self Isn’t Easy:
1. Rich young ruler: (Matthew 19: 22) - Strong attachment to wealth
2. Chief Priest: (John 11: 47-48) - Feared losing power.
3. Felix: (Acts 24: 25) - Afraid of change
4. Agrippa: (Acts 26: 28) - Refusal to accept the truth.
• Step Into Christ:
It is easy to understand what it means to step into Jesus. We
replace our love for the world with our love for Jesus. Whenever
we are confronted with challenges or temptation, our first thought
should be, “What Would Jesus Do?” Being a Christian is all about
transformation and obedience! (2 Corinthians 5: 17; Romans 6: 3-4;
Ephesians 2: 13; Acts 2: 38; John 14: 15; Romans 12: 2)
• Step Into Glory
Many are jealous of people who are popular, famous, and
celebrated. Everyone desires accolades and praise. But the glory of
this world is fleeting and temporary. Those who step away from
themselves and into Jesus will be given eternal glory. (Romans 2: 7;
Matthew 25: 46; Matthew 13: 43-46)
