My QuesTON arrived today - Thanks for that. Even though I had the Franken Quest DAS mod, this counterweight mod was key to make the quest comfortable without the need to tighten the hmd so hard. I'm now satisfied with my Oculus Quest

Thank you for the positive feedback! I hope others will find it helpful as well ;) the Franken Quest is no doubt a cool mod, but it really does add quite a bit of overall bulk hence why it personally wasn't an option for me. I like the portability of the Quest and often bring it to parties with me in the official travel case, where it still fits with QuesTON attached. Anyway happy Questing!

i can confirm . a pad to move weight on top of your forehead and a counterweight of 260-300 grams will allow you not to tighten the headset so hard anymore and will make the experience 10 times better and no pressure points red marks on your face anymore.

@@Musicshaun You should design some more mods. I'd like to support smaller startups :) but please don't take this the wrong way, i think if possible reduce your prices to appeal to a greater audience. Granted, this may not be possible depending on costs incurred for you. Also, do you have an eBay / Amazon store?
@Musicshaun
5 жыл бұрын
@@SlothyWoffy Thanks man... I know the price seems quite steep, but my overheads really are high because of the place of manufacture - Singapore. Firstly I only use high grade 316 grade stainless steel because as you know VR can be quite a workout so I have to make sure the exposed weights do not rust or corrode over time. Precisely because they are exposed, they aren't just cut to shape but I have to send them to a machining company to get each piece curved and rounded off to precision with CNC (computerised machining). If I made a huge bulk it might be cheaper but as mine is the sole product of a small startup I'm making them in small quantities so as to keep initial overheads low. I've even searched for existing counterweights for camera gimbals and stuff but with most, the size-to-weight ratio is so low that it would require much, much larger chunks to reach 300gms due to the less dense materials used. But the whole selling point is to have QuesTON be as sleek as possible while achieving the ideal counterweight, all while avoiding looking like an eyesore. I've even absorbed part of the delivery costs already, shipping from Singapore is actually more expensive than stated on my website ;( At the moment I haven't put up my listing on Amazon/eBay yet, maybe in the future? But the price won't be less though. Amazon's commission is more than PayPal's... Anyway I'm hoping that people will understand this, and wouldn't mind paying a one-time-fee to make their headsets alot more comfortable ;) Hope my explanation helps you understand my situation too. QuesTON is a novelty product indeed, but it does serve it's purpose well based on the positive feedback I've had from my customers so far, which warms my heart! Cheers!

Hi there! Nice to know another fellow Singaporean! Thanks for wanting to support me, I know that burning feeling all too well before I discovered/created the mods. Regarding shipping to the States, I've had a couple of customers from the US already and I'm happy to inform you that though it's true that shipping isn't cheap (they are weights after all lol) it's not nearly the item price yet ;) If you are patient I can send it by Singpost (1-3 weeks) it'll set you back 9 euros, otherwise by DHL it would be 12 euros (but you get it within 2-3 working days). You can select the shipping option upon checkout on my website. Hope this motivates you to grab youself a QuesTON and ease your VR discomfort! Cheers and have a great Sunday!

Dear Tony! Thank you for your interest in QuesTON! Sure I ship internationally. There is Singapore registered post option (1-3 weeks) or DHL (2-3 working days). If you can wait, I would advise you to use the longer method, as DHL likes to impose high import tax handling fees etc. but not for long, heard there's a free trade agreement between Singapore and the EU with effect near the end of the month ;) still, Singpost usually arrives within a week or so, so it's not too bad!

@Shaun Choo Wow, that's amazing!!! I thought you were from Austria! Yes, indeed I have tried it myself already and did not notice anything weird so far. So good to know a fellow Quest-ian from Berlin. What are you playing currently? Anything addictive? I'm still fighting my way through Beat Saber.... Update: Unfortunately I do seem to have problems with this mod: my left controller is losing track frequently. First I tried cleaning lenses, disabling hand recognition, rebooting the Quest and removing the battery in the controller - ultimately only removing the grip helped. I will investigate further. ☺️
@Musicshaun

Arkadiy Etumyan Heyy! Yeah I was a decade in Austria but I am pursuing Doctorate studies now at the UdK so I’m a newbie here. To be honest I have purchased quite afew games but due to my many commitments whenever I slap on VR it’s usually just to work out with games like OhShape, Pistol Whip and Box VR HAHA. But with Virtual Desktop or Oculus link we are now spoilt for choice with everything from racing sims to Full fledged RPGs like Asgard’s Wrath and Half-life Alyx... Regarding losing tracking do you mean like the controllers are floating in the air (like rotation works but is stuck in one place?) coz I had a similar problem last time but not anymore since the many firmware updates... I doubt the thin hairband would cause such an adverse effect but many you can try a black twister or something thinner to see if it makes a difference?
@arkadiyetumyan5443

@@Musicshaun Thanks for your reply! If you have any questions regarding Berlin, I'll gladly help - have spent the last 30 years here. Aaaand there we have it - the Quest's obvious "killer feature": it's definitely home workout. I am playing Beat Saber, BoxVR and Eleven myself. Pistol Whip, OhShape and Synth Riders are on my wishlist though. I am very interested in all the new possibilities (VD works really well, hand tracking also), but sadly also don't have the time or patience for games like Alyx. Regarding the tracking issue: I don't think the thin hairband was a problem - actually the issue is gone, though I am still using the hairband. I have only removed the leather hand grip on the left side, thought it might be blocking light in some positions - but probably it was just a software issue, or maybe a bad controller battery. I will try it again later.
