After almost 3 years of searching, I have finally unearthed a copy of this stunning ident, possibly one of the greatest cinema identities ever created alongside the Carlton star. When the lights dimmed and the deep blasts of bass thumped through your body and the fully utilised surround sound sent your spine tingling, you knew you were in for a treat. This is back in the days when ODEON really made your cinema trip an experience, and no cinema has ever quite captured that since.
Directed by the super-talented Nick Livesey and produced through the legendary RSA Films, this short film premiered in 1997 alongside ODEON cinema’s explosive Wolff Olins rebrand, and was played before every film shown for at least five years, though for much longer in some cinemas.
For those that remember this one, relive it. For those who don’t, this is what cinema used to mean.

Original format was letterboxed 640x480. It was restored as best as possible to 1080p HD with the original aspect ratio using MPEGStreamClip & Final Cut Pro X. Audio was also enhanced (watch with headphones!). Obviously, if anyone has the original film reel the quality would be a million times better - if you have, PLEASE get in touch!
(PS - If you look carefully, you can see that ODEON’s following two idents used footage originally featured in this one!)
